Stand up straight.

I mean, properly straight. Sit straight at your desk, ride your bike like a prim English school marm. Walk like a Zulu king. Try it. You'll get pain in muscles you didn't even know you had. If it hurts that much it has to be good for you...
That is a very good idea, especially for you MiJ, as you do tend to slouch a bit.
When I was younger I would always receive a slap round the back of the head from my dad if I did anything even close to slouching.

Here are my suggestions for a healthier you;

1. Drink 3 litres of water or tea a day (more is ok too)
2. Eat red meat. Not too often but occasionally. It is full of essential amino acids.
3. Green veg. Eat as much as you can. Your bowels will thank you.
4. Ease into exercise. If you haven't run in ages, 40 minutes a day isn't the best way to start. Begin with 3 day a week (m/w/f) and then add day once you are used to it.
5. Booze. Drinking less is good. Stopping completely from now is not. It often results in people rebounding and having a big drink up. Move to just weekend drinking and make it just a couple. Same benefits as not drinking and you still get to enjoy the odd tipple. A glass of red is a great way to help think your blood and can ha e many of the same effects as fish oil.
6.Fish. Fatty fish like salmon is great. It has healthy fats and lots of protein. Wonderfood.
7. Resistance training. Barbells, dumbells, kettlebells, or bodyweight stuff. Its all good.

Thanks for the advice guys, not that I wanted it but it is useful. I'm giving these things up 'cos they make me feel rough not to get in peak condition or anything. I am now officially on the wagon. I've drunk too much booze in my time. From 14 to 27 heavily every weekend and since then off and on. Enough is enough. As for giving up red meat that is my first step to becoming vegetarian. I want to give up meat completely because as we all know meat is murder. ;) Cheers Mozza.
Now time for that jog. Urrrgggggghhh, ahhhh Mag (Harold Bishop reaches for shoulder).

Delicious, juicy murder. With mouthfuls of flavour in every death-filled bite. :D

Your choice mate, just means more yaki-torii for me.

Good advice folks. Workout one complete. I managed 40 minutes. 1st 20 minutes was 2 minutes running, 2 minutes walking. Then 20 minutes by bike. Feel fookin supersonic now. Haven't shed that much sweat since Joshin Summer '09. Here's my i pod workout reading;

Duration: 42:54
Start Time; 9:09 PM
End time: 9:52 PM
Pace: 11 05/km
Distance: 3.87 km
Calories 307

Hooray. Funnily enough after the 5 minute pain barrier and the shock of how much weight I've been lugging around with me I started to feel really good. I realised I used to burn all that fat when I went out dancing in the clubs back in the day. Feel really good. recommend the 2 minutes jogging, 2 minutes running as a good warm up to exercise. Late at night too hardly anyone around here and it's cool. :D

Yeah, if you run long enough, it's almost like getting drunk for free! But a lot less enjoyable, especially in our lovely Nagoya summers...

If you do decide to go vegetarian, I would recommend becoming the kind that eats fish, and maybe a little chicken extract and stuff, at least at first; it will make going out in Japan a lot easier!

Yeah I like the idea of being a vege that eats fish, chicken and bacon. :)
Oh I avoided chicken in kyushoku today only to attempt a 1 hour cycle home from work in the 4 o clock sun. Soon as I got in the door I hit the bacon sandwiches with ketchup and tabasco. I needed the hit. Save the workout for tomorrow evening. :D

I just got a bad health report I will be doing most of this. But I will be adding 30min of foot ball a day at least on the days it does not rain.
