Hello!
My name is Duck, but I also go by Tim.
I moved to Nagoya last year, but I have recently decided to hop back into Warhammer 40,000. This has come thanks to the Leviathan box that I picked up along with the opening of the Warhammer store in Osu. I am still very green with 10th edition rules, as I last played 40k when 5th edition wrapped up. I was recommended to come here so that I could find out more about the local community!
I can speak simple Japanese, so I don't mind playing in language. I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello Duck, welcome to NagoyaHammer.
If you are looking to get back into 40k, and want to play in Nagoya, you'll find plenty of opponents at the monthly games day. 10th ed. seems pretty popular and a lot of folks play it. If you're coming from 5th ed, a LOT has changed. That said, Warhammer 30,000 is a more direct successor to 5th (incorporating some ideas from 6th and 7th as well as some new stuff). It is less popular though and only myself and one other person locally have armies for it.
Feel free to jump into any ongoing threads, or start your own if there is something you want to discuss.
See you at the games table.

Re: Returning to 40k, Newish to Nagoya
Welcome!
As Prim says you'll have no trouble getting a game at our monthly events (and maybe even at Osu?). We play a lot of different games so there's lots to try if you're interested, but 40k is the one game that *always* gets played.
I'm a big fan of 10th edition and would be more than happy to help you get back in. You should find 10th edition more streamlined in its core rules than the editions of yore with the tradeoff that there's usually more special rules on the units themselves. Your Leviathan box has two Combat Patrols, and using one or both of those to play some Combat Patrol games is the easiest way to get your head around things before trying more freeform 1000 or 2000 point games.
Looking forward to meeting in person and rolling some dice!
(I'm afraid no amount of edition change has ever altered the treachery of the dice)
