frans - dont worry about how much GW stuff costs here. I'm not quite sure what badruck is talking about saying FW stuff is cheap but GW stuff is expensive. Theyre both quite cheap, because theyre both sold by UK online sites which bill you in GBP. The JPY/GBP rate is very favourable just now, so you can order things from, e.g. Wayland Games which are already running at about 15~20% under the regular GW price, and then factor in the exchange rate to make even more savings. Shipping usually costs you about 800 ~ 1500yen, which is, frankly, tiny compared to the savings you make. When I say shipping, I mean international shipping. Do not buy from Japanese sites. Their shipping and COD charges are very high, and the miniatures themselves retail for at least 200% what you'll pay for them from Britain.

Yes, that means its far cheaper to order things from overseas and have them shipped internationally than it is to buy them from the store 5 minutes from your house. Wierd, huh?

A box of 10 marines is about 5000 yen here. (Prim will be able to give a more accurate cost). The same box of marines retails from the GW UK website for 22.50GBP. (Or, 18.50 if you order it from Wayland Games. Thats about 2500 yen.) As a point of reference, a McDonalds Big Mac meal here costs 630 yen. So, 4 big macs to 10 space marines. How does that compare with Sweden?

In terms of how gaming is organised here, its pretty informal. Recently (this year) Primarch has started organising tourneys and similar themed events, and theyve been successful, but the big problem weve found has been simple numbers. There just arent that many gamers in the country. We're doing really well if we can get 20 people to come to an event. At that kind of level, there's more to be gained from playing in a fun, enjoyable manner than going all out to win.

Dont get me wrong - we have our competitve players here, too. Badruck is one, and dont let Prim fool you - he can lay the smack down with the best of them. I enjoy a competitive game sometimes too. I think its all about planning. If you plan a friendly game, then bring a friendly list. if you plan a "lets see who's best" kinda game, then yeah, bring your leaf blower and expect your opponent to do the same.

Anyway, regardless of your own prefered play style, itll be good to get another gamer into the group. Welcome aboard :)

I have started to packing, the company is offering us some boat shipping.

I have some questions regarding what miniatures to pack, I would like to bring the stuff that is played.

What should I bring:
* one or more Firestorm Armada
* one or more Battlefleet Gothic
* Disposable Heroes
* one or more 40k army
* one or more Fantasy
* Confrontation

40k and WHFB are a given as they are played by almost everyone.

I don't know anyone that plays BFG but if you have a couple of fleets I reckon you would get people interested in at least trying.

I know that Prim plays Uncharted Seas but I'm not sure if he is into Firestorm Armada.

The other games, I'm not so sure about the interest over here.

I want to get into FA, but I havent since I already play US (Shroud Mages and Thaniras Elves) but no-one locally has any fleets so I have to bully people into playing. Which FA fleets do you have?
There are lots of regular Fantasy and 40k players so those aren't a problem. If you want to play BFG, there is one local guy who has fleets and I have a small handful of models.
I dont know anyone who plays Confrontation and I have never even heard of Disposable Heroes.

Which edition of Confrontation is that? I have a whole bunch of models for 2ed (although I may have misplaced the books and cards :oops: ) and it wouldn't take much to get me to invest in the new edition.
Feel free to call me Dave!

It is the second edition confrontation. I think that the models are great but the rules are not so impressive, I will leave those at home.

I have three smaller fleets for Firestorm armada, they don't take much space so I could bring those.

Disposable Heroes is a 28mm WW2 game. The rules are created by Iron Ivan and there is alot of 28mm WW2 miniatures.

Maybe pack two 40k armies and a fantasy army.

Hmmm, I just started collecting Secrets of the Third Reich which is also a 28mm WW2 game. the models could probably be used for both games, though I may need to drop the Werewolves to play Disposable Heroes.

Looking forward to see you here Frans, right now I know no other Swede than myself living in Nagoya.
I live in an area called Hoshigaoka, it is about a 20 min subway ride from where you are going to live I guess.
You seem to be a very experienced player and I hope to learn from you!

Well there is a lot of difference between experienced and good. I started organizing tournament when we placed third from the bottom in one of the biggest tournament in Sweden (45 teams and four players in each).

How did you end up in Nagoya?
