ashmie wrote:Wow  :D Just found this post! Awesome is indeed the word. You met Priestley? That's like the Elvis of the hobby right. Bloody brilliant. Good job you went to Warlord! Was it fairly close to WHW? Same trading estate? The WHW gaming tables look impressive. You have the same look on your face at Warlord that I had when I found the Back to the Future Delorian at USJ. My favourite film.
Well worth the trip mate. Seriously well done on some excellent reportage. Will you post this on Warlord site too? I think you should. :)
Warlord is near WHW, but different trading estate. You could probably walk it in about 30 mins if you knew where you were going. WHW does look impressive, but it would probably be better if you went there with some mates to play games with.
I already posted the Warlord parts up on their forums. So far the Sales Manager and Kristen, the sales person who showed me round have popped up to say hi. http://www.warlordgames.com/forum/viewt ... =11&t=4492

Wish I had been there :D Well, Warlord anyway. Thanks for enduring the 3hour wait! Can't imagine how frustrating that must have been, especially as you received a faulty burger bun.

I must say, the service and treatment you describe at Warlord sounds like they have a solid business ethic and are overall good blokes. WHW sadly sounds like walking into a cool pop culture shop only to find out that you have just entered the wrong door and found yourself in a Channel shoe store :o

Nice photos, too! :D

Still reeling from how cool this adventure was. I've just had another look at the WHW gaming room photo and in the background we can see a cavern filled with products and two lurkers. I can picture it now, as soon as I approach that dark alcove they pounce and quiz me with "Have you played Warhammer before", to which I retort "Why yes I'm no stranger to the hobby, I love it". Then to my dismay they drop me like a first teenage love affair "Oh you know how to play do you, bye bye then vetaran man, I have nothing more for you". :(

Warlord rules supreme. It is clear. If I ever get around to finishing all my models and am mad enough to keep shelling out for more, Warlord have my vote and cash. This report was really good Prim and makes me happy I invested in all those Landwehr. I knew there was a method to the madness. :)

The trick to defeating those nasty GW sales people is as follows:
GW "Have you played Warhammer before?"
Customer "Yes, I play 40k."
GW "Which army do you play?"
Customer "Squats!"

Oh incidentally, I know we are getting close to NH time and you are busy but recently Lovejoy asked me if I could play Black Powder but sadly I'm getting busy too now before the baby is born. Will you be gaming at Joshin at the end of April? If so is it worth me pointing him in that direction with his French army. He has a similar amount to what we have been fielding but needs a painting deadline. Anyway I'll let you both work it out if there is a chance to have a demo game. Another player to the fold, what. :geek: :)
