Re: Well, bugger me - GW had a good idea...
Now that the thread's derailed, I suppose I could point out that there's a difference between using naughty sweary words and being rude. Frothers, on the whole, is vastly more intelligent, polite and worth reading* than say Warseer, which is fairly draconian in banning naughty words. Same goes for this thread. With the examples you posted, there's nothing offensive there. There were no insults, unlike other threads I've noticed here (and no I'm not giving examples, because I can't remember specifics
).

The difference between this site and Warseer is that this site is being run by someone the users consider a friend. If this were Warseer then everyone would follow the rules laid down from the start. People seem to think that because I run the site that they can do whatever they like and when I say "er... would you mind not doing that please" I get a load of arguments about how they should be allowed to swear because they personally think it is acceptable. Now, when folks want to disagree with me about my opinions regarding the latest game or some rule changes or whatever, then that is fine, but I am getting really fed up with having the same arguments again and again. No Swearing. Dont like it, go to the effort of getting your own forum set up, pay for its upkeep, run your own events and feel free to use every 4 letter word under the sun in every post. If you dont want to do that then at least have the decency to follow the posting rules as if the site weren't being run by your mate. I'm not asking for people's opinions about this or opening it up for discussion, I am telling people STOP IT.
Is that being draconian? Maybe, but at this stage I dont care.

What are we talking about again. I have no idea what frothers means or what it has to do with the new digital books from GW anyway if I did something wrong I am sorry.

Fair enough.No Swearing. ... I am telling people STOP IT.
Actually, I think part of the problem might be that you all know each other. Are Dave and Spevna that foul-mouthed in person? I don't know, but if they are, then I can see why they'd bring that across onto this forum. Personally, Dave's the only person here I know, so I've tried to keep my language civil (moreso than how I speak to my parents, for that matter
Nah, it seems pretty reasonable, since there's quite a variety of cultural backgrounds, so some people see things differently to others. I can't speak for Dave, but to me, Dave's not used any swearwords in this thread. Obviously others disagree.Is that being draconian? Maybe, but at this stage I dont care.
I'm not arguing with your rules (at least, I'm not meaning to
Back to the actual topic;
I'd hope there'' be a more wide-ranging painting guide than just "Ultramarines", although I assume this and Codex: Space Marines are simply the initial offerings. Personally, I want a "how to paint great big monsters" to inspire me to get that dragon painted.
edit:
"Frothers" is Frothers Unite UK, a forum mostly populated by Brits, dedicated to miniatures wargaming. There's quite a wealth of sculptors who post regularly; Kev White from Hasslefree, Tre from Red Box Games, the guy from Warploque Miniatures and Curtis from Ramshackle Games. If you want an honest critique of something you've sculpted, that's the place to go. You'll usually get some good advice on how to improve.

@Prim - fair enough. You're absolutely right - your site, your rules. I have no problem with that. I (really) will do my best not to swear. Occasionally there may be a word which I just don't consider to be offensive but others do. In such cases I'd be obliged if you could point it out and I'll fix it.
@spev - nah, not really. I notice you're not disputing the foul-mouthed lout part of the comment

Having the books on a a tablet does save on weight it has to be said. I'm probably faster with a book though. Old git syndrome.

Ok, so I think it's a great idea, and will probably be getting some of the fantasy iBooks, not the interactive spacemarine codex, if they ever decide to release it to the japanese itunestore. Would LOVE to browse their ware if they were actually available.
