mortar and pestle - where to buy?

Bit of a random question, this un. I was making a korma today (my first ever curry that didnt use a pre-made paste or curry powder - huzzah!) and I was trying to grind up seeds of some spice or other (canny mind which it was. There were several...) Anyway, I found myself swearing and cursing at the crapness of the wee tiny japanese bowl I was using. It was one of those ones that has wee ridges in it, supposedly to aid grinding, but in actual fact just making the seeds ping out at irritating intervals. So...

Does anybody know where I can get a decent stone pestle and mortar in this country? Preferably cheap, preferably a reasonable size, preferably online. Ideally I think a stone(granite) bowl and a wooden stick (I cant for the life of me remember which is the pestle and which is the mortar) would be perfect, but most sets Ive seen online are either both wood or both stone.

Anybody know the answer to this question? According to the missus its not something that is commonly used, and thus hard to find. Certainly Amazon and Rakuten are both no good. (Rakuten has one at 1500 yen, but no indication of what its made of, and it looks ceramic (and therefor you risk it being glossy inside, which looks lovely, but doesnt actually work.)

ta in advance :)

cheers, guv. Actually, a lot of folk online seem to swear by Thai ones. I might swing by there when I come up at the end of the month...

You can get them online through Amazon.jp too.

My apologies — the BB code mangles the URL, so it isn't properly clickable.
