I would like to voice my displeasure at Japan being the last country in the world to see Star Trek : Into Darkness released.

The fact that it comes about 2 weeks before my wife is due to deliver our 2nd kid means that I stand little to no chance of seeing it. Gah!
While I'm whinging, I'll also add a moan about the fact that Iron Man 3 was only showing in 1 screen here in Tsu, and it was the dubbed version. Didn't get a chance to see that, neither.
And people wonder why Internet piracy is booming?????
*edit* second last country in the world to get Pacific Rim.

These are the 3 films I wanted to see most this summer. Are there any others that folks would recommend?

Yeah, I'm not real happy about the Japan movie release dates either. At least in Nagoya I could see Ironman 3 subbed! Someone just told me the late release dates are so they can get the stars of the movie to appear on Japanese variety shows to promote it before it opens.

I thought that maybe sci-fi and other genre films were more risky in Japan, so they wanted to wait and gauge anticipation before committing theatre venues and marketing expenses.
