Just...whut?

OK, so I've been attempting a bit of a purge and have been making rough inventory of stuff I want to get rid of. To further this goal, I just now took a quick shufty at geedub japan's site, with a mind to seeing what the going rate is for a NIB stuff-I'm-selling.

I saw this.

I did a double take, and saw it again.

Just to clarify, that's equivalent to 38.35 of her royal maj's great british pounds.

38 quid.

for one, infantry-sized mini.

I mean, what the actual fuck? Sorry for the strong language, but I considered that sentence carefully before I wrote it and I stand by the use of the expletive in this instance. I mean, I know, we all know, that geedubs is mad, but this? This is fucking Sparta for fuck's sake. If I could raise my eyebrow any higher it'd start doing orbits round my head.

I'm going to lose sleep over this. It's like, Elder Gods' Ziggurat of Unholy Power level mad. Like someone has opened a portal in my mind kinda mad.

mad

It's a nice figure, but it's just one sprue of plastic. It's not resin created from diamond dust being hand poured by the pope or anything.

I'm impressed actually. The amount of self-confidence GW must have in their products is amazing. Well done to them I say. Of course, they need to actually sell some of them, but simply to ask for that much for a single plastic mini takes some guts.

That's hilarious.

Someone at HQ obviously just thought "sod it".

Especially since it's not, as far as I can tell, really all that different from any previous version of Kharn.

Really, it's the logical extension of their "people who buy our minis are HOBBYISTS interested in the JEWEL-LIKE OBJECTS of WONDER that are CITADEL MINIATURES!!!" philosophy / actual-for-gods-sake business model, heh.

Might have mentioned it before but me and a mate dared each other to go in a GW store the other day and it was a bit of a gutting experience. Mainly for the price of the minis. The Hobbit and Lotr range can only be ordered online or from the shop terminal. Gone are the days of seeing the place wall to wall and floor to ceiling with a variety of exciting stock. It's one wall 40k and the other Sigmar. 2 tables, one staff member and a lot of first time players. That's their business model I guess and they are kind of getting away with it.
I'm just glad I was around to see what it used to be and where it came from. I would be kind of embarrassed to say I frequented that shop now. Rather than feel angry I just find it all rather sad.
Long live Guildball http://steamforged.com/guildball/ Quite popular here in the UK at them moment. I had never heard of it!

Exactly! Might as just well buy the older version at under $10 on ebay :(

But as Prim said, I admire and despise their gall - which incidentally may have come from 'gall bladder' from which bile is excreted. :P

But they are the Porsche of mini's! :P (There is no Malifaux, Dreamforge, Dust, Prodos or Kingdom death in GW's mind)

Not sure if i wanted now, my Dutch genes prohibit me from getting that figure at that price!

It's only twenty-two quid back here. :)

And the old metal - well, resin, now - one is available for half that.
