Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

I'd check in the Aichi area because pay is a bit better even in the countryside. I think i saw one in toyohashi or something for 350000 a month. Mie has very little to offer. Hope you find something close and we'll be able to get some games in.

I would say not to get your hopes too high in regards to any great changes taking place mate. The way the system is geared now, it is all about getting ready for the center tests, and getting into the right high school or university. Until that changes, don't expect to see any changes in students' ability to speak English as there is no real need for it in the current educational climate.

I see that Altia are hiring. Don't know if it is what you are after, but as far as ALT dispatch companies go, I have heard good things about them.

You might also want to check out Ohyosensei. It has a pretty full list of jobs.

+1 to what Spev said. It's important to keep expectations realistic, as anything else is only going to lead to frustration and disappointment, which is nae use to anybody. Even the school I work at, which is very heavily geared towards English education, dedicates significantly more than the required minimum of class hours to English education, and has 3 full time native English teachers is pretty much geared towards passing the center test. Until that POS archaic system changes (which is a long way off) Japanese English (and indeed other subjects) is going to lag way behind the rest of Asia in terms of performance. I enjoy my time in the classroom because the kids are (generally) bright and peppy, but in terms of overall job satisfaction, the best I can say is that I'm satisfied that I have a job. If you aim for coming home everyday feeling happy and fulfilled, problems will ensue. If you aim for coming home every day with a salary, you should be able to get what you want.

I'm not sure about this pedestal you guys put other Asians on. Most of the Chinese and Korean exchange students I've met in Canada can barely manage basic English conversation.

Thanks for the encouragement, I think.
I was just trying to stay positive as Ill be unemployed soon.
Perhaps it is time to shut up shop on education work for now and head home.
It's not like I haven't tried these past 8 or 9 years.
Thanks for the links.

As did this. http://www.ef.co.uk/__/~/media/efcom/ep ... eet_en.pdf

I guess we may actually be doing something right after all :) That's somewhat heartening :) I still think the Center Test is the biggest barrier to improving Japanese education, though. As do most teachers I've spoken to (Japanese and non Japanese.)
