Epicstravaganza!

Post by The Other Dave » Tue Sep 06, 2011 10:07 am

Oh, it's on!

Event: Epicstravaganza!
Time: Saturday, December 3rd, 10:00am 'till we're done - we'll have the room 'til 9.
Place: Meihoku Community Center (check out http://g.co/maps/5mm4 for a map) - it's about a 12 or 15-minute walk from Ozone station on the JR Chuo line, or a 2-3 minute walk from Heian-dori on the subway Meijo line.
Fee: 2400 yen divided by the number of participants. 4 people, 600 yen.

What's up:
I have 4 Epic armies (Marines, Guard, Eldar and Orks) and lots of terrain. I'm making them available to you to play.
As many as 4 people can participate if everyone's borrowing an army. For every 2 people who bring their own armies, I can add 2 slots - I'll scare up mats and terrain somehow. Borrowers can request a particular army, but if more than one person wants to use the same one we'll draw lots. Observers are of course welcome as well, and I'm going to make an announcement in Japanese at the next Joshin event, since I know a couple of the Japanese guys are tempted by the game.

If you haven't played Epic, check out the rules here (the 4 "updated rulebook" pdf's): http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... Id=4900003

If you're bringing an army, write up a 3000-point list using any of the NetEA lists here:
Space Marines: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/ ... hp?id=1457
Imperial Guard: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/ ... hp?id=1469
Orks: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/ ... hp?id=1455
Eldar: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/ ... hp?id=1466
Chaos: http://www.wargamer.com.au/epic/NetEA_A ... ETAV31.pdf
Sure, even the "experimental" lists.
If you poke around at Tactical Command (http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/index.php) there are more to be found.

We should have time to play 2 3000-point games - I'm thinking a couple random matchups so you can get a feel for your army with the first game and bring the pain in the second. I'm hoping for a fun, relaxing day of gaming, with me available to hover around and answer rules queries and what-not.

In the (I'm hoping unlikely) event that I can't get the room on 12/3, I'll post here on 10/4 and let you know a revised plan.

So, if you can come, post here, and let me know if you'll be bringing an army or if you want to borrow one, and if you want to borrow, which of my armies you'd like to use.

If it goes well, I'll plan more!

I'm in.
I can bring a bundle of terrain (1st and 2nd ed buildings), and if you have any spare support for marines (dreadnoughts, predators etc), I can probably rustle up 2 marine armies with a Titan or 2 in support.
As for mats, I can supply all but 1 regardless of how many you need, which means you need a Zuzzy mat for yourself.

Awesome!!! I'm coming! :D

And so close to my station! This will be easy to get to! :D

By the way, great price on the place. Maybe we can hold other game days there in the future if everything checks out. :)

I can bring a GW battle mat if you like. I'll also try to order some IG stuff to start my own force, but I'll be pretty dependent most likely on your support elements and such. Of course I'll play anything that is available.

Thanks for organizing this.

I just want to make a quick note that, the way things will have to work, "borrowing some of my stuff" will be the same as "using one of my armies" for the whole number-of-people thing. I don't mind, of course, but want to be clear.

Thanks for the interest, all!

@Badruck: the limit is 3000 points. Be sure to use the Ork lists linked to in the OP and not the one in the rulebook - although the main Ork list is almost the same, some points values have been adjusted (in a favorable-to-the-Orks way). Plus there are variant lists if you want to try feral Orks or speed freeks or something.

Thanks for the offers for mats. Looks like 3 participants plus me for the moment, so 2 mats would do it, but we'll see how much interest there is on the Japanese-guy end. If we expand into the 5- or 6-player zone, I may need to take you guys up on the mats, and on the buildings from Primarch. Knock on wood!

Prim, it doesn't look like you'd need to scrape together 2 armies, although thanks for the offer. If you want to borrow some support elements for your own, I have dreads and land raiders to spare, but never got around to getting predators in any edition.

It looks like at the moment we've got:

Primarch, with his own Marines.
Job, with his own Guard, probably borrowing some of my stuff to make ends meet.
Badruck, with his own Orks, probably borrowing some of my stuff to make ends meet.
3 players means a fourth is me, using one of my armies.

For the peanut gallery, there's plenty more spaces! I have two armies that aren't being touched yet, plus I realized that I can actually pull Titan Legion and Gargant Bigmob armies together, and I *may* have one or, if I'm lucky, two more to use by December.

GW's website -> Specialist Games -> Epic Armageddon -> Epic Armageddon Resources. The core rules have rules for Orks, Imperial Guard and Space Marines, the Swordwind book adds Eldar, Imperial Guard Siege regiments and Feral Orks. For the other army lists, you'll find the fan-written stuff at Tactical Command - at least, if it were working.
