Early days yet, but hypothetically, if some hypothetical person was planning to get a starter set, and wanted to swap their solar auxilia half with my marine half, I'd hypothetically be interested in such a transaction. :D

Hypothetically speaking, any hypothetical purchases on my part will depend on prices and the amount of hypothetical resin in the range.
A Solar Auxilia army does sound very cool though.

Yeah, I'm hoping for not much resin. Thinking about it, I guess it's a given there'll be some, as all the "specialist" games fill in low-demand gaps with resin to some extent or another. And a tiny one piece resin tank is just about the best-case scenario on the dealing with resin awfulness scale. Resin infantry would be right at the other end though - I know a guy who got an epic FW tau army, and there were an awful lot of little guys in bits and pieces.

(And in case my hypothetical grammar wasn't clear, I'd be interested in a solar auxilia army myself. I'm flexible, but I did just collect that epic marine army last year.)

I'd imagine that any Legion specific (That's Space Marine Legion, not Legions Imperialis) units will probably be resin. 30K still has a lot of stuff made in that material. Hopefully the majority of stuff will be plastic, we shall see.

A few people in the 30K crowd think that we may get scaled up versions of models from epic being made in plastic at 28mm size, but I don't really see it myself. I'd love some plastic Malcadors, or any of the old FW armour for that matter, but I'm not holding my breath.

@ToD - Your hypothetical statements were clear, I was just saying that I think Solar Aux would be a cool looking army on the table.

Ahh, gotcha - I was thinking you were saying it in a "it's cool so I'd like to do that" way :D

Well, we shall see! Not much to do but wait for the WarCom dripfeed and eventual release, I suppose.

Ooh, plastic dire wolves for the LI launch! https://www.warhammer-community.com/202 ... astic-kit/

The foot piston assembly alone on my traitor dire wolf put me off getting a second in resin for my loyalists, so this is nice. Not sure I need three total, but I'm sure I can figure something out.

A bit more vagueposting: https://www.warhammer-community.com/202 ... -answered/

The important points, I suppose, are:

A combined-forces army is the base expectation, so everyone will be hitting the table with some combination of (or at least the option of choosing some combination of) Marine, Auxilia, Knight, Titan, Navy, and presumably later Mechanicum forces, but the armies aren't going to be strictly delineated like they are in... pretty much every wargame. Everybody's got "Legions Imperialis" and the only real distinctions will be (at the epic scale) probably pretty subtle things like SM Legion special units and such. (Does make me less worried about splitting my box, though.)

Hints at Primarch models, although if anything's going to be resin it's probably them.

AT and AI will keep being supported, although the latter for HH only, so Xenos and Guard are being sunsetted - not that AI is a particularly popular game by all accounts, so that's perhaps not a surprising move all in all.

A "sure, you can use your old epic minis if you want" statement, which is nice, although I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of other super Epic nerds are of a similar mindset to me in not being able to wait to replace my old tiny tanks with new better-detailed actually-in-scale-to-the-infantry ones.

A pretty firm statement of no plan to expand into 40K, which is not entirely surprising. AT's been out for like 5 years now with no such move, and from a volume of SKUs standpoint limiting what they have to produce by keeping it a strictly HH product is fine, I suppose. Probably limits the potential audience a bit, since a lot of Epic fans were into xenos, but presumably they did whatever calculus they do vis a vis model output versus demand and figured focusing on HH was safest. But AT's success has surely shown that a lot of people really don't mind a pure HH game a'tall as long as they get to play with their tiny titans.

Edit: Someone elsewhere noted that the HH focus and making all armies "Legions Imperialis" armies has the added benefit (again, as with AT) of meaning that everyone who does play the game will have some degree of interest in each and every release for it, an important point for a non-core game.

I wonder if they'll print rules for the Warmaster titan...

A couple new articles up over the past week or so: An overview of the history of Epic, notable mostly for noting that 2nd edition Space Marine is a big influence (and throwing some weird shade at Armageddon), and another with info about a Marine Support Pack coming out with Leviathans, Deredeos, and Rapiers, oh my!

And since it at least doubles up on everything you can split it between the forces you'll build for demo games!

Currently I'm leaning towards being selfish and painting everything up as a single force, and seeing how marine vs auxilia works for demos. Which means I've been thinking seriously about getting two core boxes, but if there's enough stuff in expansion boxes like these I might not need to.
