Auxryn is bang on the money when he says GW aren't interested in making 40k a competitive game. As long as folks play the game the way it's intended (for fun) it works really well.

Listen and repeat. Hate GW, no 40K.
Play the game as it is intended. Any rage should be focused at either GW or players that monger the cheese. The game itself is great if played for fun.

To be honest, while I have made my feelings clear on GWs marketing and sales attitude, I don't really have a problem with their game design ethic. I think they could probly do with a bit more proof reading and could certainly do with faster FAQs and suchlike, but in terms of avoiding competitive gaming I think they're doing it right.
