I know the original landy was not in the same league for price, but it was made of a poor quality plastic. Just cos the model is a reboot doesnt mean itll be any cheaper than the rest of their current stuff.
Just because the pricing is in line with that of other models does not mean it is a fair price. I don't think there is a justifiable reason for charging that much.
And therein lies the heart of many player's feelings towards GW. At the end of the day, every purchase we make for our hobbies comes down to balancing the benefits of the model (coolness factor primarily in this case) vs costs (actual monetary value here). Whilst the new FW Land Raider does have a lot of Nostalgia value, I much prefer their MKIIB Land Raider version.

@spev - the only sensible justification for a company to charge any given price is "the punters will buy it."

@prim - true, that. Just noticed the rules are gonna be in IA:Apoc 2nd ed. which would certainly hint at a certain element of super heavyossity. Shame, really, but it's still a nice army centrepiece, especially given the number of wee swooshy vehicles in a DA army.

Personally, what I reckon FW really need to do is a conversion kit for the Venom that lets harlequins use it. A bit of sparklebling, big face on the front, and the eldar and dark eldar players would be queing up down the street to buy em...

I seem to remember being told in no uncertain terms that Harlies should never ever be put in transports ever on pain of something nasty being done.

True enough. As long as people are willing to bend over and take it, GW will be there behind them ready to give it to them.

ha! touche, indeed.

I kinda suggested it for 2 reasons:

1) Venoms are the original Harlequin transport. Oh yes indeedy. Harleys had Venoms ages ago, long before Dark Eldar had em. Buggered if I can remember where I read that, but I think it was pretty old school. The FW old school landy got me thinking of harleys in transports. (My first ever land raider was a Harlequin one. Yes, that used to be game legal  . It was yellow with red camo stripes, as I recall. I think AGP still has it, maybe...)

2) I've been looking at mechanising as much as poss of my dark eldar, and I find myself using my harleys much more with them than with my vanillas. I'm getting to quite like venoms, and I'm also getting used to playing with units in tinfoil transports who get mauled if the transport goes down.

In a Craftdar list, Harleys do work well with a 30pt Shadowseer upgrade, run across table, assault in turn 3 or so, as thats when your aspect warriors tend to arrive. Also, the cheapest Craftdar transport is over a hundred points. However, with Dark Eldar by turn 3 all that's left is little meaty chunks (whether yours or theirs depends on a variety of things.) Add in the fact that a Venom costs 55pts, and it starts to look possible to just drop the seer and pay 25 extra points for some swoosh. Only if it was a dedicated trans for them, tho. Anyway, such is life - ya form an opinion, then experience dictates that ya form a new one.

Yellow with baby-poo brown, actually. It's Codex Grey now.

Spec, I think you're unfairly singling out GW for the "evil corporate b******s" label there. :)

Really? In the whole world, no other company ever charges what they can get away with? It's not just big companies either; the roll shop round from my office charges 95p for a can of Irn Bru, which is a damn sight worse than charging a tenner for a Space Marine character.
