The art of building objective markers
Re: The art of building objective markers
You might consider trying to model some of the new special objectives in the 6th ed book, then replace generic objective markers with new ones once they are identified. Might make it easier to remember what they are, too.

That's a good idea. I know I'll have trouble remembering which thingy is the targeting whatsit and which is the halves enemy charge something or another gizmo. I think I'll just shrink the rules descriptions and glue them to platicard and put them on the game board like road signs.Auxryn wrote:You might consider trying to model some of the new special objectives in the 6th ed book, then replace generic objective markers with new ones once they are identified. Re: The art of building objective markers
I'm actually right in the middle of making some (more) objective markers for Epic. I scratch-build my Necron vehicles, so it's pretty trivial to make some wrecked / half-buried ones.
Really, for any game that uses 'em, objectives that look like something make the game that much cooler - it gives a feeling of story to what's going on. Not "we're fighting for control of this abstract piece of ground" but "we're fighting for control of this wrecked tank / piece of technology / satchel of sensitive documents" or what-have-you.
(I do like Konrad's idea of road signs, though.
"Danger! Subspace anomalies make movement difficult within 10 meters of this marker!")
