It is nice to see that new Gw is releasing a codex for several armies in quick succession. I do however think they should stop releasing a new edition rulebook every few years and focus on scenario releases and miniatures.
I agree. I feel like a tool for having to spend 3000 yen for a little paperback. Next edition, I'm just going to find from other sources and print. That way, I can pencil in all the inevitable FAQ changes.....
@PV I still have my 4th ed rulebook and my Battle for Armegedon book. Call those red and white uber marines of yours Templars and I'll make a Speed Freek army. TOD has a copy of RT, for that matter...........
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

When Battle Missions came out, the Internet was full of moaning that it was a pointless release, and they should have done a new Codex instead.

To quote David Bowie, "Everything that you wanted I have done... I have turned the world upside down, and I have done it all for *you*! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations. Isn't that generous?" GW have pretty much done what the wider fanbase asked for, and no matter what they do, they get moaned at for it. :)

I didn't moan about battle missions. I thought it was quite a good idea, actually.

I enjoyed Battle Missions, it was very useful actually. I didn't play much of Spearhead (only one game), but it seemed ok in an Apocalypse-Lite kind of way. Planetstrike was good, but some of the requirements and special rules (more terrain) meant that playing it involved transporting a tonne more stuff.

Since the rules update we have also had the Crusade of Fire and Death from the Skies supplements. Honestly, I think GW are producing a lot of stuff these days. Their codex releases have certainly been coming much faster. As for changing the rules so often, an update every 4-5 years doesn't seem unreasonable. I had no problems with 5th, but 6th is fun and different enough that I can enjoy that as well.

More on topic, whilst I wont be buying an Eldar army, I am certainly looking forward to seeing what cool new toys they get once they are updated. Then, when I play M_i_J, I can feel happy that I lost because his codex was new and cheesey as opposed to losing to an older codex and feeling miserable about being a terrible player. :D

A new codex might actually motivate me to get my Eldar painted up. 2014 may well be the year of the Eldar for Spevna.
