Arise from your slumber Oh, long forgotten thread.

More details about the Ultramarines movie. Apparently it will only be available for sail on DVD from the company's website. Here I was thinking, it would have a simultaneous world wide release in theatres across the globe :D

From GW:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... =13400002a

From the Production company:
http://www.ultramarinesthemovie.com/

I don't think I'll be getting a copy anytime soon. Not because it's the boring boys in blues but because it actually looks pretty lame, plot and visuals wise.

I think it looks pretty darn cool.

You would :D
Which part did you like best?

*The mouths and dialogue not being in sync like a bad Kung-Fu movie
*The inference that 9 raw Ultramarines and their leader are more powerful than a full company of Imperial Fists
*The last stand scene in the dust storm/desert. Chaos Marines blindly charge the Boys in Blue rather than just shooting them.
*Visuals that make British/Euro TV shows look good

All of it, it had marines in. Duh!

a) The lip synch could be better
b) Plot armour is the best armour
c) Maybe the chaos marines were out of bullets. Alternatively, Khorne?
d) It looks ok. Very similar in style to Dawn of War.

I'm just wondering what type of region encoding the DVD will have. I think Japan and the UK are the same though.

japan and the uk are both region 2, however the UK uses PAL and Japan uses NTSC. The DVDs are absolutely non-compatible because of this.

Unless you have DVD region free on your PC. You do have that, dont you?

The DVD is available as NTSC or PAL. Now I know which one I need. Cheers.

"buuuuurn heretic!"

so far my favorite line from ultramarines trailer 2. So far theres been a few review of the film by people who were invited to an advanced screening in Soho. Probably the most indepth would be the and a half long video review by Beasts of war.

http://www.beastsofwar.com/warhammer-40 ... ie-review/

Alot of people (not just here) have been scoffing at the sub par animation quality, yeah, Its not great, but good enough for me. They go on to explain that with the budget they had (9 million pounds), well, that was really the best they could do, with the budget. The dawn of war trailer, which was very awesome indeed, costed upwards 13 million and only went for 3 minutes. Theres no way codex pictures could have maintained dawn of war quality for the whole 75 minutes of ultramarine. It would have costed "untold millions".

Despite this, however, so far there's been a very positive reception. I'm quite giddy to see it myself. Has anyone preordered the collectors edition? They started shipping this week!

9 MILLION!!!! Sweet monkey on a gold plated, diamond encrusted bicycle, those guys must be laughing all the way to the bank.

I haven't ordered it yet. It is on my list of things to buy, but unfortunately I cannot possibly buy all the things on said list within the course of my natural life.
