Redand Gold if Chapter house is still alive I will get some shoulder pads from them http://chapterhousestudios.com/webshop/ ... gory_id=44

they look really cool... iF GW was smart they would just make the models these guys may better than they do and sell them for twice the price... doing that would take Chapterhouse down with out any law mumbojumbo

GW dont have a system suitable for dealing with small enterprises like CHS. GW design their mini releases and schedule about 2 years in advance. In that period of time companies like CHS can appear, sell some stuff, and go bankrupt before GW can put out a new mini to compete directly with a CHS model. Thus, the most practical solution is to sic the lawyers on em and let the design team just design stuff as they see fit, rather than taking up their time making "better versions" of models other companies shouldnt be making in the first place.

'course, if GW were on the ball, theyd release an entire mini range for a codex at the same time its released. None of this "we dont have a model for the eldar seer council yet" crap. Just release all the minis at the same time as the codex and let the customers buy what they want as and when they have the cash for it.

gomen - the above is a total digression from the thread topic. To return to topic: I think that visually an egyptian converted GK army would probly look cool, albeit you'd have to be careful to keep it on an even keel thematically and not let one or t'other styles dominate too much, and I look forward to seeing what badruck does with it.

Ok, my apologies for going off topic again.
I remember when making tanks out of deodarant sticks and medicine spoons was common place. I remember when marines only came in vanilla flavour and the only way to tell the difference between them was the colour they were painted. I remember when a looted wagon involved buying a rhino and converting the thing to heck and back.

What are you whining about? Boo hoo, GW are making me assemble kits in a non-standard fashion. Back in the day that was what you HAD to do. Conversions are as much a part of the hobby as anything else. What next, you're going to whine that GW dont make Wraithlords in cool kung-fu poses? GW dont make shoulder pads for a chapter only 3 people world wide use? What happened to all those players who used to game back in the days of Rogue Trader. Where are those players who liked things "old school" style?

GW aren't going to make 30k stuff, they have said as much. The market isnt big enough. Maybe one day they will release Seer Councils on Jetbikes, but in the meantime, suck it up you nancies. Jus managed to convert some warlocks without 15 years of gaming experience, so why cant you?

And now back to your regular, scheduled rant at Badruck....

um.

OK, looking back at my post Ill concede its a wee tiny bit unclear, but I wasnt actually complaining. The missing key word in my initial post was...
I wrote:'course, if GW were on the ball financially, theyd release an entire mini range for a codex at the same time
I had kinda assumed this was inferrable from the previous part of my post, but based off your response, it clearly wasnt...

so, just to clarify - I wasnt whining. I was making a business suggestion.

I mean, cmon - me, complaining about converting stuff? I convert stuff all the feckin time. I certainly have more conversions than a certain Preachy Prim...

do not worry MIJ

Prime can not allow anything that does not fit in his version of truth to go without a comment...

He really can't help himself even if he tried..

Funny what a huge difference that one word can make. It was actually this comment that I was responding to though:
me_in_japan wrote:None of this "we dont have a model for the eldar seer council yet" crap.
The "wave release" system that they have implemented has actually improved their business model significantly. It allows them to sell you an army several times over. People buy a 1500 point army on the first release. They then buy 500 points or so of extra models from each successive release resulting in people buying 2500+ of models. If they release all the models in one go then people will only buy the models they like from the set and wind up with 1500 points. I know that most of us have a lot more than 1500 anyway, but for little Timmy the GW store customer this is the best way to get him to spend his pocket money.
Likewise if you have to buy a seer council AND jetbikes to make 1 unit then GW is making money out of it. The same is true if people have to buy 5 models of Canis Wolfborn to get their thunderwolves. GW may be a bunch of tight fisted, plastic crack dealing bastardos but they do have some sense about the best way to milk people for their money. I should know. :D

That you do, unless you count kit bashes as conversions anyway.

Since this army isn't going to be remotely fluff based, can we call em the "Funky Tuts"?
