Would you play against this Khorne Daemon List?
Re: Would you play against this Khorne Daemon List?
I don't have any experience playing daemons yet and I can imagine that bloodletters deal awesome damage in close combat but the reason I kept the bloodletter numbers low is because.. Just imagining a big unit of IG firing at me and having to make all those 5+ saves. It works with orks because they are so cheap, but with bloodletters? These guys cost 16 pts per model so wouldn't it be better to put as many points I can into something that will survive? This is the reason that I kept them low in numbers in the original list.
They oughta kick ass in fantasy though...
But again, I don't have any experience fielding them so if you say it is still worth it, I will trust you.

Re: Would you play against this Khorne Daemon List?
I would play you... and I would like to say if some one calls this cheese they are really a bit of a wimp... Because I really think this list will have problems. for a lot of reasons as Prime said from low model count. understatement really... this is one of the hardest things about an all Khorne Army. you can hit hard but you can not take a hit very well at all and your troop cost the same as Tactical Marines. the 5+ saves will help but you are only going to get them 1/3 of the time that means that you will not be hitting hard if you get shot before you can do anything. Flamers and vehicles are going to give you a really hard time. Every thing that shoot will hurt you more than nearly any other army out there.
The BT is good when there are a lot of other things for the enemy to shoot at..
Soul Grinders take a lot of fire so in bigger game you will want them... but all DP no grinder is possible the only problem is the DP is only Toughness 5... and that means he dies it he gets shot by Bolters and even bladestorming Eldar.... and he ends up costing a heap of points... it all depends on how aggressive you can be with him when you deep strike.... I think you could go with the DP but you will need units to tie up folks in combat... that is why I like the Khorne dogs AKA Flesh hounds..
problems for your list are...
Eldar Dark and light will have no problem keeping away from you and Tau will shoot you up really good as will GI... Orks and Nids will out number you almost 3 to 1 and Marines and Necrons will also have heaps of fun shooting you dead... the other problem is the lack of grenades... even Kroot in the trees are going to own you in combat as they are going to hit you first and cut your numbers down... Nids stealer armies hit you first in most cases but everything else is still going to hit you first if you go in to Terrain. if you charge nearly anything make sure you do not have to roll a terrain check when you hop in to combat or you will go last and lose lots of your guys. I once had a Marine Sergeant take a charge of three Blood letters and because he was in terrain he took them down before they could even get a swing off.
But I would not let these things get you down... Daemons are a dice rollers army somedays you will be untouchable with our cover saves and your Inv. saves and other days you will get owned buy stuff that normally you would think you could take with out much of a fight.
come up to Ogaki some time and I will let you fight a variety of armies and to help you build a strategy on how to deal with things..
last thing MIJ and Prime do not play daemons neither do they play against them much so they really are not qualified to give you much advice... As much as Prime likes to read about armies he has really never played against or with an All Khorne force. MIJ has faced an all Khorne Daemon force once and he gunned it down with heaps of jump infantry... so he has that little bit of info. to go on. But he does not use Warp Spiders or Swooping hawks as much as he did in the past....

Re: Would you play against this Khorne Daemon List?
yes, but we can both read and both have access to the codex. We know what the daemon rules are, and we know our own armies' codexes well. Thus, we can give advice on daemon army choice. The best way to choose an army is not "what cool stuff can this unit do?" but "what will my opponent try to do to this unit, and how can I stop him?"last thing MIJ and Prime do not play daemons neither do they play against them much so they really are not qualified to give you much advice...
Yes, experience with an army is useful, but not having it doesnt invalidate our opinions.

Seem to recall someone's Khorne daemons hiding out at the back of the board after his unstoppable killing machines and unkillable plague thingies got wiped out as fast as they appeared. grumble grumbleAdmiral-Badruck wrote: last thing MIJ and Prime do not play daemons neither do they play against them much so they really are not qualified to give you much advice... As far as Badruck thinks that I have no idea how daemons play, you can feel free to ignore my advice (though he does start his post by agreeing with me). However, playing daemons and knowing how to play the game aren't that far apart. Whilst I have no experience of being a daemon general, I do have some understanding of A) how to beat them, B) what some of their weak points are and C) an understanding of how games tend to go. There is no secret handshake or deeper knowledge that you get just by owning an army. Playing games with ANY army against ANY army and learning from your mistakes will help you win games in the long run.
Besides, Badruck has so many armies it would be hard to call him an expert at using any one of them inparticular.
I also notice that whilst he singles myself and M_i_J out as being unworthy, he very rarely brings his daemons out against us.

That said...
Yes it does!!!
that is like saying I have read a book of medicine and now I am a doctor. yes you can give advice but you sure do not see me taking advice from them... MIJ wins a lot and has done since he took Vosse's advice about how to build a good Eldar list... I am keen to see how he runs his new dark Eldar List. as no one has given him a blue print.

I think you might be overestimating the level of detail in GW's army books there.Admiral-Badruck wrote: that is like saying I have read a book of medicine and now I am a doctor.
Besides you only take advice from Spevna. Theres some real bro-mance going on there.

I play a lot of my armies against a lot of players some new and some old I have seen how they play I would not call my self and expert but I sure have a vested interest in learning how to make the army win something neither Prime or MIJ have to offer...

Re: Would you play against this Khorne Daemon List?
no offense to Spevna but he don't play that much so his advice is a bit shoot from the hip... sounds good may be good but until one has tried it and gotten a few good tricks down with it they are going to get hammered.
@Seb
they are just blowing me up again... pay no attention to it.
If you want to work out strategy for Khorne I would prefer to do it somewhere the enemy can not read about it...

Very true.
BUT
It doesn't take a lot of experience to know that an army of 7 models, even at 500pts, will be at a BIG numerical disadvantage. I don't see how you can disagree with the simple logic of that idea.

Re: Would you play against this Khorne Daemon List?
Well..
You all have more experience playing the game 40k than me so therefore I appreciate all your advice and I will never rule out any of them just because you haven't fielded the army I seek advice for. I am just looking to get a good start, a base to build my future army on.
Actually I don't really understand why there is a need to criticise other people just because they know more or less about the army in question because if one person has more experience fielding the army in question his advice will obviously look better than everyone else's anyway so let's try to look forward, focus on the issue at hand and build something. To me it doesn't matter who I should listen to and who I shouldn't listen to, all advice here (even though it could be bad) is good to me and I am grateful for the time you spent on writing it.
So far I thank you all for the very good advice you have given me and my eyes are opening more and more to the vulnerability of Khorne's daemons despite their high point cost. For 40k gaming I might have to invest in that Soul Grinder to be able to withstand some damage either way.

It is really nice of you to invite me to Ogaki to try out strategies, I would definitely like to do that!Admiral-Badruck wrote: come up to Ogaki some time and I will let you fight a variety of armies and to help you build a strategy on how to deal with things..
