me_in_japan wrote:me tooMy stuff arrived yesterday. I went pretty all out (all funded by the good Admiral - thank ee, cap'n!)
I got:
2 Kabalite boxes
1 Wych box
2 Incubi boxes
3 Raiders
2 Reaver boxes
Lelith
a stand-in Archon (A Skorne lord from Hordes)
Da Book
I'm leaning very heavily towards zoooooooooom as a theme. Mostly Kabalite, with a squad of Wyches cos they look nice. I've already ordered 2 Ravagers, 2 Hellion boxes and 2 mandrake boxes. After that, I just want 3 Sslyth and a Venom and I'll pretty much be done. I fancy the Hellion and Mandrake SCs, depending on the models, and a new Drazhar model would be ace (and would go well with Karandras...)
I plan on not overdoing wych units and would ideally like to avoid Haemunculi completely, unless the models are bitchin cool. Likewise beasts and pain engines will be skipped, unless the models are V.G.
Dunno if that influences mike more towards a wych army (variety in a gaming group is always good). If Prim is still on the fence, may i be so bold as to suggest a 'munc army? Then we could have our own wee Commoragh set up, desho?
Weren't you the same bloke who said he wouldn't be starting a DE army and would just get a few to paint?

Mind you M_i_J's conversion is almost as bad as someone saying that as a Black Templars player he could never bring himself to field a Blood Angels army.
BTW my conscience is clear, I have 8000 points plus of Dark Elves and what are the Dark Eldar but Druchii with guns ad skimmers
Morituri nolumus mori!

And I dont care since I buy everything anyway.
Badruck is just sad because he's stuck with all the old ugly models whilst all the cool kids have the new gorgeous figures.

Re: Things just got official people
i know, i know, accusations of bandwagon jumping and army-whoring are not unexpected, however, i have this to say in my defence:
I'm into this hobby largely for aesthetic reasons, and the new dark eldar models are great.
I much prefer evil races to good ones. (note complete lack of "good guys" in any game I play, under any system.)
I like elves and hi-tech stuff.
I prefer a tricksy, glass-hammer army to an all rounder one.
I can put my hand on my heart and say that if Dark Eldar had existed back when I started gaming, I would never have been an eldar player. As it happened, I went for the "not-exactly-good-but-not-as-evil-as-i-woulda-liked" army, as the only alternative at the time was orks, and y'all know Im not an ork player.
So, for the above reasons, I felt it was ok to start a dark eldar army. I was also helped out by the fact that Badruck paid for it, so I could jump in with a clean conscience.
And finally, I'd like to close with my favourite quote from the codex so far:
(to set the scene: Iyanden craftworld are locked in a losing battle with Waaaagh Rekkfist and face total annhilation, when suddenly...)
"Just as all seems lost, the Wraithkind Kabal and the Cult of the Flayed Hand burst through the webway portal at the Craftworld's rear. Fighting alongside Iyanden's Aspect Warriors and their Ghost Warrior allies, the Dark Eldar drive off the Orks. When asked by Iyanden's council of seers as to why they intervened, the Dark Eldar reply that they find Iyanden's angst-ridden forays into the world of necromancy extremely entertaining."

Still, the story with the Tau is far more awesome.

Re: Things just got official people
I just scanned through the DE Codex and it's enough to make a Skarboy cry. Oh, so many ways to shred the Boyz.
I do like the fluff though. It's just an evil muhahaha laugh all the way through.

Tau do it for the greater good,
Orks do it because they were born to do it,
Nids do it for the hive mind,
But Dark Eldar do it for laughs.
And whatever happened to Skar-boyz? Weren't they a real unit once upon a time?

this is a half truth... I am glad I do not have to paint all the new models that would have been a real bytch.Primarch wrote:And I dont care since I buy everything anyway.![]()
