large amounts of boogers. On the base part, anyway. The stick bit stays clear. To get the right colour, mix paint in your airbrush then shoot it up your nose first. :D

I use glue, great stuff. Failing that, boogers.

Glue does the trick for me.

(Although, in the Admiral's defense, it really doesn't like to stick to the clear plastic of flying bases unless you lay it on really thick and/or give the bases a good washing. I think they use a different release agent or something.)

(I suppose one might have the same problem with boogers.)

Wash base in warm soapy water and scrub with a tooth brush.
Apply a thick layer of white glue/boogers as needed.
Pour sand on top.
When its dry, apply more glue/boogers over the top.
Paint

The flying bases on all 3 Land Speeders and my Land Speeder Storm are based for my Crimson Fists.

I tend not to stick sand directly to bases anyhoo. I superglue cork to them first, and then put sand on that. It adds texture, and you can do a lot on a flying base as theres lots of space (both horizontally and vertically). plants and stuff work well, too.
