Smurfs have always been more dangerous when they are running away. The Other Dave wrote:Personally I'm all in favor of the design philosophy of "simple rules with characterful effects," so shooting after falling back works for me. I've certainly heard about how scary it makes Inceptors, since they Fly and always get to.jus wrote:What?? that's it!? Ultramarines get +1 Ld (boring, but makes 5-man squads essentially immune to morale) and the ability to shoot after falling back, which strikes me as huge..sounds kinda boring but after playing a few games, shooting after falling back is going. to be such a life saver. Huge.
The Warlord traits also got a mention - the UM one is to recover a CP after spending it on a 5+, which again seems to fit the blue dudes' theme of "martial discipline" pretty well.
Those bigmarines are super cool. All the armor options are are making me think of Gundam. I hope things don't get too clean and modern looking. I like me my grimdark skulls, parchments, and assorted gothic anachronisms.

Hey, now, steady on. Fully assembled, yes, but painted? Noooooooo. Still on the workbench, metaphorically speaking. I've used them a few times, though. They're a fun unit to play. Really must get them done up...The Other Dave wrote:That's what I get for being out of 40K since 4th edition.Primarch wrote:Those have been around for ages. Re: A new edition is coming... New 40K discussion thread!
More marine chat, but hey, they're the first big release of the edition. Word is intercessors and hellblasters will be out early next month, in 10-dude boxes. I'd kind of got myself hoping, after chatting with jus, for a shared box, since they're only different in weapons, because what I really want is 5 intercessors with auto bolt rifles and 5 hellblasters with heavy plasma guns - anybody want to go halfsies on a couple boxes?
Looks like the csm codex is due out the same time, with grey knights soon to follow.

Hmm the new space marine codex is out now. After a cursory perusing of it, it seems a little light on the fluff side of thing. Can primaris really be upgraded from regular joes? How are losses from primaris squads reinforced? No mention of any of that in there, but they do make a big show of big and small marines working together. Hmmm, maybe i won't be selling my okd marines off after all. I held off on buying a box of reivers but put in an order for some aggressors.
Wouldn't mind working something out with tod about those intessesors coming out soon though.

I can dig it. (Although the combination of the sort of busy design and the photo angle left me thinking the tasselled thing between the wings was his head for quite a long time.)

Looks like we are go for codexes for Death Guard at the beginning of September and AdMech shortly thereafter. One wonders if they're going to expand the (sort of thin) AdMech range at all.

Death guard is looking to be a large release, with at least mortarion, typhus, a tank, a termi unit and a box of those blight drone thingies. I'd be surprised if admech saw the same scale of release the next month. S'not impossible, but I'd be surprised if their production facilities could stretch so far. We shall see...
