With apologies to 'Strictly Average' an associate of BOLS, I present the WAAC/FAAP continuum.

WAAC -------------------------*------------------------- FAAP

IMHO our Dark Eldar playing example player sits here:

WAAC -DEP-----------------------*------------------------- FAAP

I think I sit about here:

WAAC -------------------------*------MTP------------------- FAAP

What about you guys?

Edit: Spam is just awful. Spend the extra yen and get something decent to go with your cheese. Some nice ham, REAL bologna sausage or even turkey breast if you are feeling healthy. And make sure it is the kind of cheese that doesn't come in a 2kg block and/or was made anywhere in Japan. :D :D :D
You just discribed my favourite kind of cheese.
To be honest. I play the models I have and I like to spam stuff I hardly ever read the fluff (who am I kidding a can hardly read) I have listened rather intently to conversations about it on podcast, like The Over Lords and The Independent Charicters. I have read or rather looked at the pictures in most everything ever published about Orks. I even made an attempt to learn the Ork language.

In the end. I have to give myself the following score.

WAAC----------Admiral*Badruk----------FAAP

I buy a lot of models I play the ones I think look fun, and I really love losing a game of 40k. Almost as much as I do winning one.

I've found that in some kinds of curry, spam can be excellent =) but I'll never put it on a sandwich again...ugh.

You know, for some reason I was thinking only 1 combat squad could come out of a single pod, but come to think of it they both can, can't they? That would make 3 pods a nice start to cutting this army down to a manageable level. Would be pretty solid, supported with long-range fire to mitigate the following turn where the Sternguard get stranded.

I'm pretty much near the middle, but I do like optimizing lists. I don't take Star Cannons because Scatter Lasers are cheaper and with cover they do more damage. I love Fire Dragons and I don't need more than a minimum squad to get the job done. But that doesn't mean I have 9 Scatter Walkers or 3x5 Fire Dragons. I will, however, take 2x5 and then do something else with my last Elite slot. Basically, I like effective units and tend to push it to the limit before it could be called spam.

I like my models. They're my little doods :D You don't send your doods into a burning building without a flame thrower to make sure all the enemies inside are definitely on fire

hum...

WAAC------------------*------------------MiJ--FAAP

I went through a somewhat waacy phase a few years ago, but I play so little 40k these days that it's pointless to try to come up with a winning strategy. It's far more important for both my opponent and I to enjoy the 2 or 3 games I get in each year, so I've veared right off onto the fluff side of things. I move myself just a twitch away from the very end because occasionally I do see something whilst list building that makes me go "hey, thatd be quite killy" and throw it into the list for that reason and that reason only. So, while not every decision I make is fluff led, about 95% of them are.

@dnanoodle - you don't like starcannons? I find em quite nice as tag-along guns. Y'know, when you need to get rid of those last one or two marines/termis, use a starcannon. Not saying I'd put em on war walkers, but I often put em on my wave serps.

As for me..

A few years ago, I would have said...

WAAC------------------*-----------DL---------FAAP

But as Tzeentch has continued to be unloved by the rules and GW in 40K. Plus all the power gaming going on at that time and the fluff being kicked out of my butt. I have gone down to...

WAAC----------------DJ--*--------------------FAAP

Not all the way to WAAC 'cause I choose minis I like to get the job done.

But I would like to one day have minis capable of...

WAAC----DL--------------*--------------------FAAP

... just to stick it to a WAAC player...

hhhmmmm.... I like dots....

Haha Dungeon Lord sounds like me after they stole away the old CSM codex. Nurgle's Rot was awesome, even if it never worked heh.

@MiJ
Nah I don't use Star Cannons really. I never deal with T4 FNP and my opponents often have cover. Against regular marines in cover the Scatter Lasers score more kills. Theyre also a good deal cheaper and twice as good vs vehicles. If I did take Star Cannons it would be either on Serpents (for TL) or Vypers (to maneuver and negate cover). I'm hoping in 6th Ed we'll see low AP weaponry out perform high volume of fire against heavily armoured targets.

I'm probably

WAAC---------Underdweller---------*--------------------FAAP

Otherwise my Nids would have no guns/swords, and I would have a lot more Kroot.

As for the aformentioned DE army, I would totally play against it, as it would be my first experience against such a player, but I might change my mind after a few games.

And spam is gross. I was fed it 3 times a day for a month one time; that wasn't why I became vegetarian, but it sure didn't hurt :(
