Back on discussion of the 6th ed rules:

As alluded to above, Monstrous Creatures that are also characters can really affect combat resolution with challenges.
Issuing a challenge lets them separate the leader from the run-of-the-mill boyz and then fight one, then the other. It used to be that a Nob with a power klaw on the end of a fair-sized squad could take down most MC's given enough time, but now he's likely to just get squashed. This is going to be really annoying if he was the only one who could hurt the MC.

It seems odd to me that most armies don't just ignore challenges from Hive Tyrants or Greater Daemons, but there you have it.

Most monstrous creatures aren't that tough, (T6). The few that are will find that their opponents may choose to leave combat with them under the new rules. I dont have the book with me, but I believe that if you outnumber your opponent you gain some rerolls, which may actually allow the sergeant/nob to cause more wounds than before, especially if they can strike first or simultaneously. (Most MCs lack frag grenades for example).
At times you may want to challenge an MC yourself. E.g. 11 boyz and 1 Nob fight a Tyrant. If the Nob is killed the boyz are still going to be fearless, which may make a huge difference if they are contesting an objective or you are playing for kill points.

As with most things, it is very dependent on the situation.

Thought I'd keep the 6th edition ball rolling with this review of the new book. Good coverage from the beasts of war channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheBeastsOfWar
All I seem to do these days is watch you tube videos about the hobby, just putting off the inevitable I suppose. Where is that brush?

I went through a phase of doing that, too, except with me it was painting vids ad tutorials. Meh, you come out of it better educated, I suppose. 's not a waste of time, just a different way of spending it :)

Orks say DAKKA

Elves having more sophistication and class say DAQUAHHH with a delicious french accent. ;)

As for the rules, I am interested in this special shot that characters are able to do? They can target specific models or something?

Also the fact that jump units gain the 'hammer' rule is pretty cool :D kind of like impact hits. I love it! So epic! (Not being on the receiving end though  )

Quick question. With the allies rule does this mean I can field a unit of Deathwing Terminators with my Ultramarines army? This would be great 'cos it would allow for a Space Hulk theme without having to paint a whole army again. Or a Space Wolves unit within Ultramarines. Or is that ethically sick? I think there was some 40k manga (sorry graphic novel) that featured this set up.

Great show Admiral thanks. Much better than podhammer and less swearing from what I can gather.
