Poisoned weapons are the answer to that, but most armies struggle to field a good number of those. It does increase the usefulness of snipers no end, though.

Dark Eldar can get the job done I guess. Certain Nid units with the poison upgrade could cause some grief if they ever manage to get close to it. TH&SS termies can likewise lay some smack down, but again need to close the distance asap. For most armies though it involves taking units specifically to deal with it.

I think sniper rifles are a great thing to have no matter what the army...

The big monstrous creatures do require taking specific units to deal with em, but then so do flyers and terminators and tanks. It's a juggling act to build a good list, and the big monsters are just another pineapple to add to the apples and oranges you've already got spinning around your head.

He makes a very good point about nids, too. If I wanted big monsters I'd be playing nids. If i did play nids I'd be pissed that everybody else now had big monsters and my army was no longer special.

Same goes for giant war machines. If I wanted em, I'd play Apocalypse. I'm not playing apoc, so why the heck does my opponent have a 200+ point doom machine in his army?

Thus making it harder to talor a list to meta.

Ever since I saw the Wraithknight, I just could not get excited about it. I am not exactly sure why, but I guess it was...I don't know...too expected perhaps??? Ok, here is what you need if you want to go the GW win way, the 'Wraith' army with our new models and our new extra supplemental codex for Iyanden. Look how BIG the Wraithknight is! OOOOooooo! I am sorry if I sound facetious, it was just the way I felt. Also, I already have 2 Wraithlords and GW are telling me that they are not really competitive now, and a Wraithknight is the way to go. Hmm...well, OK, I understand the marketing strategy and appreciate the need for it in order to sell more of the new models, but I would like to get some use out of the stuff I already have. When I was little and playing with Transformers, everyone wanted the big new toy, like Metroplex or Fortress Maximus, but when you got it, it was usually a bit of a anticlimax, as maybe your friend would get Trypticon and then it would just kind of get silly. Or, your friend would not have either and well, even Optimus Prime would have a hard time going toe to toe with a bot the size of a city.

I suppose I am currently in with the crowd who thinks that the Wriathknight is more of an Apocalypse kind of thing.

Went to the store to check it out. And its even more impressive in the plastic!

Grey Knight walker - up to its knees!

Riptide - only waist height!

Put down your puny toys - the WraithKnight bestrides the 41st millenium like a Colossus!!!

Im obviously in the minority of liking it; from the pure modelling/collecting viewpoint of mine it is a nice piece. If you have titans, why not knights?

In regards to gameplay, I can understand why it may annoy 40k players. It is an Apocalypse piece in the wrong game.

GW seems to be doing to 40K what it has done to FB; create overpowered rules to sell its new big model line. There is some crazy mathhammer along the lines that if you charge 3 skullcrushers into '3 skullcrushers-worth' of other troops, the skullcrushers will always win. Alternatively, if the 3 skullcrushers get charged by '3 skullcrushers-worth' of troops - they still always win! Which means that you need tailored lists to overcome certain WoC armies...lists which are then rendered suboptimal vs other races

Still, the urge to buy and convert is strong...

I had a skim through White Dwarf yesterday (now 5 pound 50) It's still a very glossy magazine, improved cover artwork and a lot thicker than it's previous format. It still runs as a catalogue for new minis of course.
@MiJ Would you like a copy, it's an Eldar special? Second question, are you going to buy one of those huge Eldar maxitures?
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.
