In that case, you shall forever remain ignorant of the awesomeness that is the new Shadow Spectres.

Tanks and New aspect Guys = OK, I guess. They both look nice, but neither makes me particularly want to rush out and buy them. The problem is, the Eldar already have so much competition (all of them pretty good) for those 3 Heavy support slots, who needs any more?

I do agree about the mention of an Eldar Corsair list sounding rather intriguing.

its not about what FOC slot they go in. they look cool thus they go in the army. this is how the eldar philosophy of army building operates (at least it does in my head)

Swooping Hawks look cool too. I didn't see them in your tourney army though :D :D :D

Seriously, I understand what you mean. Too many cool models, too few points and too few slots.

cmon badruck - this is getting silly now. Clearly we had all seen pictures, clearly we had all read the rules, and finally, I posted saying I had just bought them. Where else in the vast digital sprawl that is the internet do you possibly think we could have done all that?

tourney building is one thing, buying models is another. I should point out that I actually own 12 swooping hawks including 2 exarchs, with a 3rd model I usually proxy for an exarch on the basis that its painted while the others aint. They were pretty, thus, I bought em. I have also used them several times, mostly against Prim's IG. They suck against marines, and in most tourneys youll come up against a lot of marines, so I dont put em in tourney builds. Its not that I never use em at all.

Besides - the spectres out-cool the hawks by a long shot. The fact they can 'port in and wax 5 termis in a turn is just the icing on the cake. I like having access to all the options in the eldar codex (and a mighty variable codex it is, too.) For these reasons, I bought em. I will also use em as much as I can in the near future, if only to get the hang of how they play.

quick eldar update:

My FW stuff finally arrived today (musta been lost inna warp or something...)

first impressions:

ye gads those spectres are humungous! How Im ever going to make em fit in my case, I dunno...
They are also about twice as tall as any other eldar. Couple that with their killiness and you may as well paint a target on their heads...

Causes for happiness:
Lovely models, all of em.
The d-cannon tank comes with not only a falcon chasse sprue, but also a Fire Prism sprue (which is included for the back door, I think...) so with a bit o magnetic shizzle, I can now have a dcannon, a fire prism, or a doom weaver. yatta! (can pikey or someone else who has the new fire prism kit plz confirm that the FP box came with 3 sprues in it? 2 chasse and 1 turret/guns? If not, then I may have to get in there with the plasticard, but a quick perusal makes me think I have all the bits I need, apart from the transparent bit for the crystal.)

causes for gloom:
one of the shadow spectre arm sprues was missing :( Dang and blast.
On the plus side, I phoned FW and told them, and the immediate response was "we'll send out a replacement straight away." Great stuff - Dave has been mollified :D Its not like Im in a hurry for em anyway - I gotta be getting on with my dark eldar (who are looking increasingly egyptian the more of them I paint, btw...)

*edit* Damn! These guys are hard to stick together! body, legs, head, left arm with gun, right arm, and 3 tassles each. The tassles have no tab and no slot. They just get bunged onto the belt and under the arm. Of course, I discover this after Ive already glued and pinned the arm. The resin arm. The thin, eldar, resin arm that I now have to remove so I can stick the tassles on...

argh.
