New FAQs are up!
Re: New FAQs are up!
Now, now Pikey. The admiral has been pretty decent recently about not bringing super cheesey lists. He did place bottom at NagoyaHammer this year remember.

Re: New FAQs are up!
@Ash: Yeah, don`t worry about that list. It sounds like a long way from the types of cheeze I`m used to down here.
@MIJ: I guess we`ll have to agree to disagree. I still think fluffy & creative players need few (if any guidelines) to make their lists and armies. It`s the WAACers, the Cheeze Lords that need tight, well-thought-out rules to reign them in.
@Mike the Pike: I`m still sensing some hostility here. Are you still traumatized from my humble Daemon army laying the smackdown are your cheezy Eldar? It was like 3 years ago!
On a side note. When one (of the two) noobs mentioned in my previous post first joined our club. He played his half-painted 1000 point Dark Eldar vs. the same Cheezy Crimson Fist player. The Crimson Fist player had two flamers in every assault marine squad and a flamer in every Tac Squad. He also took two Whirlwinds. I pointed out how unusual his weapon load out was and hinted that it might be because he was about to battle a bunch of foot-slogging T3 elves. He replied that he always tooks only flamers (a fact contradicted the next month when I saw him use only meltas vs. a Chaos Marine player). I suggested that since the noob was still unaccustomed to the rules that I act as his coach. The Cheezy Fist player balked a bit, then agreed. I gave him the best advice I could (he still had his Warriors and Incubi walking accross the battle field and a total of one dark lance in the whole army) and he pulled out a draw. Actually the Crimson Fist player had to pull off a miracle move in the bottom of the last turn to pull off that draw. Later, the Dark Eldar noob thanked me profusely. He said it was his first non-loss. It was kind of rewarding. But I can`t be there to help him every battle. So, in time, he will probablly learn to fight cheeze with cheeze. I guess I have a moral obligation to stop this this from happening.

Oh yeah, and I think the FAQs generally did a good job to clean up some of the wierd rules discrepancies. Now we just need one that bans the allies table!

Honestly, as an experienced hand you really do have a moral obligation to stop cheesemongers peddling their wares. Talk to that newb. Train him in the Light side of the force. And while you're at it, try to impose upon him the long term benefits of refusing to play cheesemongers. Over time, if you train enough young padawan, el cheeserino will find himself opponent-less.

@Jus- Yep, will have to check out that rule. It seems odd if jump infantry can't use their legs!
but this is GW
As for allies, I am not really so keen on it personally from a fluff and financial point of view. I feel connected to the army I choose and I would rather just use units from that army. Also I don't have the money to spend on buying allies. More often than not we end up playing team games often during the year, so I can get my allied fix that way.
That said, I am not against the whole idea. Space Marine chapters should ally together. Makes perfect sense. Other allied combinations are a bit
, but hey if you don't mind the weirdness in terms of fluff and you are not being a wanker and doing what the guy in Dan's group does, then that is entirely your right to enjoy the allies rule.
Have at it ye rascally dogs!

Re: New FAQs are up!
Assuming one isn't a power gaming cheesemonger, the allies rule merely says you can take allies. Nothing says you have to take allies. Ain't no pressure on nobody. Me? My eldar will ally with my dark eldar and corsairs from time to time as the mood takes me. If my opponent doesn't want me to, he or she need only ask. My nurgle marines will ally with my plague bearers, but hell, I was doing that in 5th ed anyway. Only difference the Allies Matrix makes is I now have to take a daemon HQ unit. Personally, I'd prefer not to, but I can live with it.

Re: New FAQs are up!
What's all this noise about Jump Infantry?
Jump Infantry CAN use their packs to move in either the movement phase OR assault phase, but not both.
So you can either:
Move 12" and assault 2d6"
OR
Move 6" and assault 2d6" with a reroll and gain Hammer of Wrath.
OR
Move 6" and assault 2d6" (No jump pack used)
Should the unit use their pack whilst in difficult terrain they take a dangerous terrain test.
In 5th the rule was
Move 12" and assault 6"
OR
Move 6" and assault 6" (No jump pack used).
So now you have to decide if you want the bonus to move and get real close before assaulting OR move slower and hope that with the reroll you make contact (and gain HoW into the bargain). It's certainly not a penalty or a disadvantage, just a tricky choice to make.
(Just kidding).

You played how many games with your marines before jumping on the Eldar bandwagon?kojibear wrote:As for allies, I am not really so keen on it personally from a fluff and financial point of view. I feel connected to the army I choose

Balked at having a guy coach the noob? C-Fist san is an ass. (That is if you didn't make scary faces at him when you made the suggestion. )Danguinius wrote:

Re: New FAQs are up!
Well, you`re right - not allowing the coaching of a noob in 40K is a bit assy. But, "Is coaching okay?" is a whole nother can of worms. I`ve played in some games (WFB and especially Magic:the Gathering - tournaments even) where people would watch me play a Japanese opponent...then, feeling some national or genetic solidarity with my opponent, just start giving out advice freely to prevent them losing to the "foreigner". I used to get really bent when this happened (mostly back in my MTG days), so I was basically against all forms of in-game coaching. I also try to be aware of stepping on peoples` toes in wargaming (except Mike the Pike`s - I jump up and down on those puppies!). What do I mean? Well, when you`re 195 cm tall and 105 kilos and your like, "It`s okay if I coach this guy...right?!" - It can have some (unintended) intimidating effects on other players, maybe moreso in this country. And I`m always trying to be careful of that.
About the jump pack thing; it really says "can"? That would settle it. I thought it said you must use one or the other (in the movement phase or assault phase)...in which case it would through a glitch in many moves/assaults through cover. I`m happy to be wrong about this one.
