If Fimir are going to be in the starter, that would mean 90% of the people who play AOS will have a Fimir army. That is quite a change in the Meta!

Some people seem to be convincing themselves it’ll be the Silent People (as yet unseen insectoid humanoid weirdos) from Beastgrave, which would also be an interesting choice. They’re from Ghur, and all the talk of swarming and such seems to fit.

Re: Let's have a GW rumors and sneak peeks thread!
The new AoS starter box (for 3rd edition) has been announced, and holy smokes it's a lot of stuff. Short version: the new Stormcast plus a new Orc faction, sort of hobgoblin-y swamp orcs with a very strong LotR vibe (which I'm here for).
Stormcast are led by the big winged lady and feature the redesigned line troops we've seen already, plus:
New heroes:

(I really like the standard bearer.)
Some new troops (this is the only one we haven't seen - there's also the new spear-and-shield line troops, and the new heavy armor elites):

And, not in the box, but to be released later, another hero and a chariot:

I should say: personally, one of my favorite things about this is that they've decreased the sometimes-ridiculous dimorphism they had between male and female models. You can still tell them apart, but they actually look like they're equally tough now, and combat high heels have been shown the door.
The big news though, is probably the new "kunnin' but brutal, rather than brutal but kunnin'" swamp orcs, "Kruleboyz":

(Those last ones are basically NuHobgoblins, and somewhere between grots and orcs in size.)
And stuff to be released later:

"Physics does not work that way!"
But this guy, man:

Like I said, a very strong LotR vibe, and I dig. it.
Apparently Dominion is going to be a big old limited-edition packed-to-the-gills starter like Indomitus was, presumably to be followed up with tiered "real" starter sets with terrain and such.
Overall, it really does look like they've given everything, both orc and stormcast, a pass for realistic / less-"heroic" proportions and posing - even the gryph-hounds look significantly more lithe and dynamic. The orcs still have their short-legged top-heavy look, but the only place that looks weird is the guy on the not-warg, and I'll probably get used to it. Overall a bunch of really really nice models that I'm probably not going to get but still.
(My selfish "my game" take is that if the next Underworlds starter follow suit and has these new Stormcast versus these new Orcs, I'll be a happy camper.)

I have to admit, GW have knocked it out of the park with this one. I'm a little disappointed there are no Fimir, but the new Swamp Orcs, (Sworcs?) are pretty cool. Even the redesigned Stormcast look better.

Those new stormcast all get the nod from me. Very dynamic. Much swoosh
Those orcs, though...*chef’s kiss* Bloody marvellous. The proportions, style and details are exactly what I want from orcs. That big hyena beast thing is also awesome. Very much me like.

Apropos of nothing: I just realized that if AoS3 turns Path to Glory into a full-on 40K9 Crusade experience, I'll have no choice but to dust off my Stormcast and get into it.

My Stormcast strategic reserve + Dominion should be about army sized so I'll be joining you.
Going to be real tough fitting AOS, 40K and Titanicus into a monthly game day though

How many terrain bags can you carry at once?

Ya, the storm cast are much better looking. I really like the griffin Chariot and the sorceress with the mask. She's very slaaneshi.
It will be interesting to see what new and unique rules the swamp-a-hobs get. They mentioned something about mist magic. Very swampy.
Still very disappointed there are no famir or insect people. The insect people would allow for completely new sculpts and ideas but what I was REALLY looking forward to was a troll-sized or bigger famir. I may have to sculpt one myself and put it in my chaos army as a daemon prince.
