So I guess we'll have a week of some leaking and then we'll learn about things when people get them. This will definitely lead to a thoughtful, contextual narrative in which everyone takes holistic stock of the changes and not isolated panics about various buffs and nerfs

Looks like I'm wrong about Ork codex reviews being everywhere today - limited editions don't seem to go out to reviewers like a normal release?

Speaking of green-skinned jerks:

Buildable both as named-character shaman (who causes mortal wounds on enemy casters when he unbinds their spells) or generic warboss versions.

There is a preview of the upcoming Thousand Sons release up on WarCom.

Mmmm Mark IV armour!
I have a feeling that my 30K Thousand Sons may be getting a new officer.

Step 1: Hire all the fan-animators who were doing it out of passion for the IP.
Step 2: Amalgamate them into a paid subscription service instead of using them to draw in more fans.
Step 3: Ban all non-licensed animators to eliminate competition.
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit? At least the investors are happy right? and if the stock price and profits keep going up, any decision will look like a good decision.

I wonder if anyone would be interested in animating "Squad Broken" in protest. Don't look that up.

I think I'll have to see it in person - I'm having a hard time with how the horns and the collar thing look together in a 2D image.
I do really like how restrained it is, to the extent that (as you say) it could totally work in 30K. The super-mutated bird head sorcerers we've gotten so far are cool and all, but it's neat to see a chaos space marine that still looks recognizably like a space marine.

I'm probably going to trim the horns off when I get one. I like the helmet decoration thing though. The Other Dave wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 2:24 amI think I'll have to see it in person - I'm having a hard time with how the horns and the collar thing look together in a 2D image.
GW zealously protecting their IP is nothing new. I think they generally let folks get away with it before (with the odd exception), but since they now have their own animation studio, they feel safe suing the pants off any fan made projects. From a business point of view, it makes sense to ensure that nobody is making fakes of your minis and that your brand name isn't being used to make a profit elsewhere. On the other hand, being heavy-handed in dishing out cease and desist letters and lawsuits makes you look like a bunch of fan-hating a-holes.Karantu wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 11:38 pmStep 1: Hire all the fan-animators who were doing it out of passion for the IP.

Oh yeah, I wasn't surprised when they did that given the things they've done in the past but from a normal fan's or even a IP owning company's point of view its still a pretty silly move. I can't wait for them to throw a hissy fit when they find out about piracy.Primarch wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:30 amGW zealously protecting their IP is nothing new. Re: Let's have a GW rumors and sneak peeks thread!
Also, lots more news about the new Kill Team recently:
No points!
As someone who's on the record as being extremely ambivalent about points and even the concept of balance in wargames, I like this. I'll like it more if there's a strong incentive to tailor your kill team to the mission at hand (like some missions being easier to complete with a comms or demo specialist, or what have you), but I fundamentally like the idea of saying "you can take 5 guys, each individual guy will be roughly equal given the balance of their skills and equipment, so go to town".
Cool activation rules!
Giving more elite troops more activations in a turn seems like a nice balancing factor, and a tiny kill team of 4-activation adeptus custodes suddenly seems intriguing...
It looks basically like nothing GW has put out before, and I say that as pure praise.

And it is the only game other than Blood Bowl where I really want to play Orks. BOMB SQIG!
