Re: 6th Edition imminent?
@Prim: Why would they (DOC)? They don't have access to any now. Learned powers can be nullified, cause perils tests etc. Doesn't fit with the creatures of the warp IMHO
As for the Eldar/CSM thing...hmmm...that is harder to understand. The rumours do say that the random powers are in addition to those already in the codex. And I dare say that both will be getting new powers of their own once their respective books come out.

I will hand it to GW. They certainly do some quality work when they want to.Mike the Pike wrote:Oh my!

Was that a picture of the rulebook in the rulebook?? Oh, it must be the WD.
Re: 6th Edition imminent?
I know. I would still have hoped to see them get something, like access to a set of powers without needing to take tests or be nullified, in the same fashion as their current abilities. It's not like they even have a whole load of choice to begin with. Daemons aren't exactly the most competitive army out there at the moment, so giving more stuff to the ones which are seems a little unfair.Mike the Pike wrote:@Prim: Why would they (DOC)? Mind you, if the rumours about flying monstrous creatures are true, Bloodthirsters and Lords of Change may be very tasty.

Chaos Daemons have no extra psychic powers......WTF???
Vanilla Marines get more than Chaos Marines, Eldar get the least of any race with access to the new powers.
Wow. That just seems like some wierd choices.
Ah, sod it. *shrug*
So,
I was curious - who plays what faction? I know we have some new players, so i was wondering if we could make a definitive list of who's got what. Just out of curiosity, like.
*note to mods: Yes, this is a blatant attempt to change the subject. I'm trying to keep tempers on an even keel, including my own...*

That's my understanding from one of the descriptions I read. You can choose between the generic powers in the new book and the abilities in your codex (which I assume Eldar and Chaos will always have more of).Mike the Pike wrote:@Prim: Why would they (DOC)? Meh, they're really going to have to do some out of the box thinking on DoC anyways. Not worried about the new powers hitting home.
As for the book, as usual, they've done a good job with it art wise, but I'm not buying this time.

The best thing about it is the tape measure and the dice. I love dice and accessories. But is it just me, or is the cover really similar pose wise and atmospherically to previous artwork they have put out.Colonel Voss wrote:Meh, they're really going to have to do some out of the box thinking on DoC anyways. It just doesn't scream fresh to me. I wanna see either more arrogance in a space marine or possibly battle weary or something more linked to the ally theme or new psychic stuff. How about a phalax style deployment or something?

Re: 6th Edition imminent?
Well, I didn't expect the Tau to get any psychic powers, but I hope they get something to make up for not getting any; the move and shoot rapid fire weapon thing is nice, though!
I can understand that paying for terrain makes sense (right now terrain can unfairly give the advantage to one side) and also it makes everyone more responsible for terrain, so Prim doesn't have to bring all of it! But I don't have a lot of storage space, and I just can't see myself spending a lot of money for official sized trees or whatever. I remember making some paper peasants huts and castles out of a Dragon Magazine once, maybe I should see if I can dig those up...
I guess the psychic system is similar to Fantasy magic? What is biomancy, is it polymorphing and buffs and stuff like that?

Re: 6th Edition imminent?
You dont actually need any more terrain than normal. The new Force Organisation Chart allegedly lets you buy 1 extra piece of terrain for your army that goes in your deployment zone, but you dont need to take it in the same way that you dont need to fill any other slot in the FOC beyond 1 HQ and 2 Troops. The extra terrain will have special rules and what not and you do have to pay points for it. You will still have the usual terrain covering 25% of the table.
Of course, if more people want to build more terrain then that is always cool with me.
I can see biomancy being a unit buff set of powers, might make some nice additions to the powers Tyrants, Tervigons and Broodlords already get.

Oh ok, that doesn't sound so bad. I can probably sqeeze in one set of woods for my Kroot or whatever.Primarch wrote:You dont actually need any more terrain than normal.
