I think Mikes advice is the best if you want to win take an army that you are sure your opponent will not be expecting never take MEQ to a tournament unless the there is a new Dex out that is far more popular in the area... if you do then you are sure to have trouble as every one is tooled out to kill you... On should really try to bring a different kind of army to each event all though there is not much that can handle 200 foot slogging Ork Boys with Mad Doc and a Bigmek with KFFG... in a 1500point list unless you end up fighting GI you are fairly guarantied a win...

Thats right guys get ready for the horde amy from hell... have been painting orks for the last few weeks and I have to say it is really fun...
Hellhound Squadrons. :D
Mmmm 焼きのこ

Like I will see any of those they suck for the most part... against anything but orks and nids I guess but Marines are fine taking a Hellhound Squadron is a sure fire way to not win.. IMHO

Orks, Nids, other IG, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau, Daemons, Space Marine Scouts and anything else which doesnt have 3+ armour or better is dead. Against marines you're still wounding on 2s and probably hitting the same 5 man squad 3 times each, they're probably cooked inside their own armour.

Just wish I had a squadron.....

If you do not have a squadron then who does? and it the are so good then why don't you have one... its not the price of the models would have anything to do with that... I think they would really suck V IG because of the low armour value most IG big guns would blow them to bits...I know the IG army I am building would be happy to see three squadrons of hell hound show up...

also I have a few Ork lists that would be happy to see that as well... and Dark Eldar with as many Dark lances as I have I am not really that scared of there either...

This brings up another thing about winning do not let any one unit psyche you out... I am truly not afraid of any one unit.. you have to know how to deal with a unit that will cause you trouble once you know how to deal with it it is not longer scary... what scares me is a combo.... the combos are what you have to gum up someway or another or you will be hard pressed to win...

I dont have a squadron becuase since they came out I have spent my money on other things, Valks, loads of marines, Uncharted Seas etc. I would love a squadron, just for toasting orks and tau. I only have 2 Hellhounds currently.
The point with IG is to spam AV12 armour. With Hellhounds, Manticores, Basilisks, Chimeras and Valkyries you can put a lot on the table. Dark Eldar lances are actually worse against this type of IG. They'd rather have smaller units of AV14. (since to a lance AV14 IS AV12).

Yes, the IG list you are building looks good on paper. 9 Valkyries (or whatever shoeboxes/cans/soda bottles you are using as standins), is potentially a pretty powerful list. I think you might find its not as good as you hope it is though..... 8-)
