I havent read the (large) fluff section yet, but it seems fairly well written. The rules section also seems not too mad, which IA books can suffer from a bit. The space wolves character (Bran Redmaw) is yer typical marine termi lord, but at some point in the game will almost certainly go "HULK SMAAAAAASH" and turn into a wulfen, which will hopefully have a nice big model. (book says it's 12 feet tall...)
Other imperial fun includes:
For 40k
An IG special character (a general who can issue 3 orders a turn and re-roll to steal initiative)
For apocalypse
Crassus Biggus Transportus
Malcador Infernus (like that horrible burninator IG tank, but bigger.)
Praetor (big missile launchy tank)
That's it for the imperials. 2 special characters and 3 super heavy tanks. Sorry folks
The eldar bit (which is the bulk of the rules section, lor' bless 'em
an entire eldar corsairs army list.
HQ:
corsair princes can take harley kisses, fusion pistols, jet packs, shadowfields, and call down orbital barrages. sweet! Gets chunky on the points fast, tho, if you do this. He can take a retinue, too.
Corsair Void Dreamers (psykers) have their own special psychic powers. nothing too overpowered, tho. Best of all, they can take a pet Gyrinx
Elites:
Voidstorm squad (basically veteran corsairs. nothing too exciting, but probly have their uses)
Harlequins on Venoms! huzzah for the old school!
A single unit of craftworld eldar (either elite or fast attack)
Dark Eldar Kabalite warriors
Troops:
Corsairs (guardians with an extra point of BS and lasblasters) some decent unit upgrade options (1 per 5 weapon upgrades, jet packs, etc.)
wasp assault walkers (the things from the FW website. cant say as their rules have changed much)
Corsair jetbikes : um, corsairs, on jetbikes.
dedi trans:
Falcon (same as craftworld one, but note its a dedicated trans, not a heavy support.)
Venom (this is a DE venom but with craftworld weapons and upgrades. int'restin.)
(note lack of Wave Serpents)
Fast Attack
hornet squadron (yon FW thingey)
nightwing interceptor (with rules for use in regular 40k. e.g. fast skimmer etc.)
Night Spinner
Heavy Support:
Phoenix Bomber (again with updated rules making it 40k friendly
Warp Hunter (FW D-cannon tank)
Fire Storm (the anti aircraft FW tank)
There are also rules for:
Wraithseers (pretty much as before. I need to read em again carefully)
Shadow Spectres (now moved to Fast Attack and made a good deal better! praise Khaine!)
Shadow Spectre Plord (much as before)
A Mymerean Farseer special character (175pts, and pretty interesting special rules. Nothing too overpowered tho. She makes eldar infantry stubborn within 12" - that kind of thing.)
Wasps (not the same as corsair wasps. theyre also fast attack, which is nice)
Hornets
Lynx
A variety of super heavy stuff.
That's it for the eldar. Pretty good stuff, tho.
There's a bunch of stuff about scenarios, too, so if one is so inclined one can play out The Doom Of Mymeara. Might be fun - Prim, are your wolves up for it? You probly have enough IG, too, no?
All in all, a very nice book. Havent seen anything too off the mark in terms of over/under powering. Time will tell, of course.
