Nothing I really disagree with in there. I was interested to see that the tournament winning Eldar armies went heavy on the old war walker squadrons and less on the aspect warrior builds..... Who suggested that one and got shouted down for it?
Sorry Admiral, looks like Orks dont even get a mention.
Read the article if you like, but which armies would you rate as the top tier?

thats not what he said at all. What he said was:
Winning Eldar armies produced huge volumes of wounds, which allows the odds to kill off your opponents. Gone is the surgical strike of the Banshee, here now see the Scatter Laser War Walker squadron throwing a bucket of shots into those Terminators.
swapping in war walkers for banshees is one thing, but equating that to a non-aspect warrior build is quite another. The art of piling shots into the enemy until they go away is something the eldar have always been good at. e.g. my dire avengers taking out a squad of deep striking terminators. Cant remember who i did that to. Ithink it was either you or Ash.
nob'dy never said war walkers were crap. As it happens, I've been heinously wrong on the whole banshee front (for which I apologise, and will expand upon further, should you wish more info.) but the long and the short of it is that banshees are no longer my aspect warrior of choice.
The whole "army ranking" thing is a bit beyond me, tbh. I tend to base my opinion of armies on my own personal experience, and to a lesser extent on my opinion of the codex. I really amnt that interested in what some dude on the internet thinks is the most dangerous army. He says IG are the most dangerous army? fine, not my problem, as no-one round here plays IG. OK, both mitch and stu have IG armies, but the last time I played either of them was...about two years ago. I build my eldar to kill marines, cos thats pretty much what folks round here use most of the time. (fyi, i consider space wolves, blood angels, codex marines, chaos marines, and any other flavour of marines to be the same army.) If people started using more IG, nids, crons, SoBs and so on, I'd be a happy camper. Id lose more games, but Id enjoy the variety. Even Rob, self professed "Admiral Badruck" uses marines much more than he does orks. Ive played his orks two or three times. Ive played his world eaters and red scorps way more than that.
and for the record, Id rate orks as top tier. green tide. 180+ orks. unbeatable unless you know its coming. certainly unbeatable if you brought a take all comers army.

With IG, every army is an all comers army. At least until GW puts out an army that likes taking pieplates to the face turn after turn.
Tis true though that marines are by far the majority of the armies around at the moment. Badruck should change his name to Admiral Culln for the amount of time his orks (let alone Badruck himself) see the field.
On a side note, 3 squadrons of warwalkers should kill about 30 orks a turn if armed with scatter lasers. Bikes with shuricannons would account for more. All while staying well outside shoota range.

while i agree that 3 squadrons of war walkers with scatterlasers would do the business on orks (and indeed, most things) the fact that itd cost an arm and a leg financially (not to mention precluding the presence of any other heavy support) means that it aint ever gonna happen. Itd also cost in the region of 540 pts. 30 orks cost 180 pts. Also, while ork shooting aint that great, at AV10 it only takes a couple of lucky missuls and its bye bye war walkers. Still, I'll concede itd be nice to try.
however this:
Bikes with shuricannons would account for more. All while staying well outside shoota range.
is sadly not so true. you can only have 1 in 3 bikes with shuricannon, and given that the other bikes would have shuricats (range 12) you can bet your bum that the cannon would be the only ones doing any shooting. Taking the redshirts as added cost for the cannon, youre looking at 76 points per shuricannon, and that only has a 24" range (and at BS3, S5, youre gonna kill on average 1 ork a turn with it).
also, ive never actually played against the new IG. Id quite like to. Any takers?

You have.
I tabled Eldrad and chums in robs 1500pt tournament. (I also tabled John and I almost got rob too, but his cowardly corn daemons kept hiding at the back of the table).
I am always happy to kill some pointy eared space clowns, whenever you're available I will bring out the guard and rapid fire you to death.

me in japan,
I envy you that you don`t play against IG very much. They have taken over down here (Hiroshima, even Fukuoka) and everyone plays IG now. IG vs. IG battles are quite common. And everyone loves vet squads...lots and lots of vet squads! (Can you guess what weapon each and every vet squad takes three of?)
I comprehend that Space Wolves are the 2nd most powerful army in 40K now, but we have no Space Wolf players down here.
I also found the non-inclusion of Orks to be puzzling. They handed over the thrown to the IG some time ago, but they are surely still a Top 5 army.

that was, like yeeeeaaars ago (well, more than one year ago, certainly). Before the new guard codex came out, anyway.

Actually, it was right when the new dex came out. I used the NEW IG then. (I must have used the new ones because I won).

hum. i looked up the release date for the guard dex, and right enough, it came out about a week before we played that game. Don't think that beating me that day makes you special, though - everybody else managed it too...

Green Tide V The Leaf Blower
I think I would have to give it to the leaf blower... anything else better be ready or they are dead..
One reason the green tide almost never gets played is that the damm thing is a lot to paint... and can be taken down I am sure of it... Just have not seen it yet..
