Which Codexes are missing?
Which Codexes are missing?
Just for something fun to discuss/debate/argue bitterly about over the weekend, I was wondering what codexes you think should be part of the game. Imagine that GW had everything up to date, all the models were released etc. Which army or armies would you like to see in the game? They can be old ones that get updated or entirely new ones. The only stipulations are that they must be 40k related and they must not be currently available.
To get the ball rolling:
Codex Squats
Codex Adeptus Mechanicus
Codex Catachans

Re: Which Codexes are missing?
I'd totally build a Squats army.
My fantasy wish-list would include:
Halflings
Araby
Norsca
Sea Elves

Re: Which Codexes are missing?
Admech and dark admech, definitely
Kroot mercs
Squats
Eldar exodites/outcasts (pirates got covered in IA11, but an official dex would be nice)
Proper bloody Lost and the Damned (chaos cult, not marines) Again, Vraks covered this well, but an official dex would be good.

Re: Which Codexes are missing?
Chaos Legion (specific) codexes
Chaos Traitor "Guard/Rebels/Mutants"
Eldar Craftworlds
IG Catachan
and an "Ogyrn Regiment" option
I also like the idea of "Squats" "Kroot mercenary" and "Genestealer Cults" but being a 3rd Ed. kid, I find two of these a bit beyond the my pervue and unfortunately all of them along with the "Ogryn Regiment" a little unlikely. Of course all of it is wishful thinking, not even speculation on my part.
Fantasy:
Chaos Dwarves
Dogs of War/ Tilea

Re: Which Codexes are missing?
We're not discussing likey here, this is wishlisting pure and simple.
Codex Ravenguard
Codex Salamanders
Codex Iron 'didn't even get a special HQ in that Ultramarines book' Hands
Just kidding, though Iron Hands do seem largely ignored by GW. Even I acknowledge the fact that there are rather too many power armour armies out there.
(I'd still buy them if they were available though).
For the fantasy suggestions, I would point you to:
http://battlereporter.freeforums.org/wa ... l-f88.html
They have armybooks for:
@M_i_J - What would you include in Eldar Outcasts that wasn't in IA Corsairs? (I haven't read that IA book yet).
@Job - Codex Ogryns? Sounds like a fun army to play.

The books range from ok to very well presented. I was quite tempted to do a Nippon army using Perry minis myself. Whilst I dont play much WFB, I would have no problem facing off against any of the above.Albion; Amazons; Araby; Cathay; Dogs of War; Dwarves of Chaos; Estalia; Fimir; Halflings; Hobgoblins; Ind; Kislev; Nauticans; Nippon; Norse.

Re: Which Codexes are missing?
Yes, Ogryns would be a blast. Ripper gun glory! Brass Knuckle combat!
And I'd invite any new codex for the previously codex-less chapters.
I like what people have done with the fan-made stuff. With GW so "profit" and "shareholder" oriented these days, this may be the true future for 40k and fantasy.
Still, the game is uber-competitive in the tournament scene and I think it would take a lot to verify some kind of balance to the lists. Some kind of fan commitee to review, play test, edit and approve lists. I believe it is possible because the Epic scene seems to have passed over to the fans of the game rather then GW HQ. I might add Mordheim is also balanced by gaming communities everywhere.
I'd play against the armies above in a casual manner. Overall they look pretty well written.
On the other hand, I feel that all the wishing drives me to despair. I feel like the game becomes more power-game driven and GW becomes more sales-driven. Part of me wants to tear my shirt off, run out into the street and wail. I invoke the Buddhist concept of Mappo and I declare that we have entered into the Latter Days when there is no hope of salvation in GW's realm. We should all either call out the name of the Emperor countless times hoping he picks us out of this ignominious world or bandy with the powers of Chaos and revel in decrepitude before the End.

Codex 'Ork Clans' would be cool.
Codex Harlequins with land raiders as dedicated transports no less.
Codex Hrud? We can always use more Xenos.
Codex Barghesi or Codex Loxatl. Even more evil aliens.
Codex Deathwatch, both the other inquisitorial ordos get some love.
