I'm stoked that I can paint up a squad of Black Templars or Sisters of Battle for a change, and have them be usable in my Space Wolf army instead of having to collect entire separate armies.

Interesting, but too disorganized to make much of it. I think a couple of days spent reading the actual book will be necessary. The allies thing does sound cool, though with a potential to be hideously abused. Tau gunline with Ork boyz for assaulting things? Waaagh dakka dakka dakka.
And if those Rage rules are true, Blood Angel Death Company and their dreadnoughts are going to become the best assault unit in the game. DC-Dreads only limitation these days is that they have Rage. Making rage a good thing means they go from being a good, but random assault unit to an awesome wrecking ball of doom.

Great, thanks ten, now that I've read this I don't have to buy the rule book!

Kidding, I kind of want to buy the book now. The new rules are looking awesome (aren't they?) good job GW.

It's a pity that :

. The strategic bidding for first turn rumors have been debunked.
. Independent characters don't get ward saves .

They will still have their invulnerable saves from their wargear, you just wont be able to take that AND your armour save the same as now. Can you imagine how sick things like TH/SS terminators would be?

@pri: yeah, I know, 2+/3+. Very sick. It's worse than 1+/4+. Would have been cool if they made it work somehow, because i like ward saves ,but, it's ok, I'm not too fussed about that

I wonder if black Templars will be able to ally with blood angels/anyone else with a psycher in tow. Seeing as according to the codex, black templars will refuse To ally with any army that fields a psycher.

Although as we have seen with grey knights, fluff may be subject to drastic changes.

Here is a copy of the 40K 2v2 tournament allies chart. The new 6th ed chart is supposed to be the same in all regards, though obviously I can't confirm that.
Image
Templars get the highest level of alliance with:
Blood Angels,
Dark Angels,
IG,
Vanilla Marines
Space Wolves
They get the second tier allies with:
Eldar,
Grey Knights,
Tau
And they get the lowest rank of allies with:
Sisters,
Necrons,
Dark Eldar.

Woo!! Abhor the Witch - Grey Knights are better allies than the ever-purgin' fire-lovin' Sisters?
Yay!! Purge the Xenos - Eldar, Tau and Templars are BFF from now on!

That chart looks like a fanboy's poorly written attempt to justify their horrid fluff more than anything else. Sigh

Good news for Tau as they can ally with EVERYONE except nids.
Bad news for Nids as they can only ally with other nids. (Not sure how that will work).
Grey Knights and Necrons are confirmed as being douche bags as they have no top tier allies.
Space Marines (vanilla) and IG are confirmed as being bros to all as they have the most top tier allies.

Hmm, this will really make it worthwhile having lots of different units in your collection. :D

I will be very interested to see who takes what as allies. There is a lot of potential for abuse here. Let's see who goes the fluffy path and who takes the path laden with cheese.
