I'm going to stay in Honolulu to study at UH Manoa for a year from coming September.
Because the condo my family (my wife, son, and me) will live is too small to keep my modeling space, I'm pessimistic about adding new models, but I would like to bring my existing army (Astra Millitarum, I suppose ) and keep enjoying games of 40k.

When you have sent your armies overseas, how did you pack them? We would use all our free baggages aboad to carry the items of immediate necessity and send items such as my son's toys, my books, and kitchen knives via sea. Whether they are carried with me or sent via sea, our baggages and parcels will be opened and checked at customs.
How can I prevent models or magnetised options from missing and breaking?

I knew one guy who spent half the year in Honolulu surfing and gaming in between. I'm trying to recall his name and I don't know if he still goes back to Honolulu or ended up Denmark or wherever. Regardless, he was a very cool guy to play games with.

As for moving models, you can always bring a bag on as carry-on, which is probably the safest option. My friends who went to nationals in the states did this with their FoW armies. You can also pack things carefully in your suitcase, especially if it hard case. Otherwise, if you decide to ship things, just prepare yourself for broken things. My FoW stuff came to me beat up through the mail.

It is in the Ward Warehouse shopping mall. It's about one block from Ala Moana shopping center on the main street, Ala Moana boulevard. It's up on the 2nd floor. I have been there about three times. The staff seem very friendly and they always invite me to go to their gaming evenings which are held in a hall in the same shopping center. I heard there are two other gaming stores on Oahu but haven't been to either of them.
As for shipping your models, Job probably has things right. If you want to take them, it's you'll probably have to accept some breakage, especially raised swords, tank aerials etc. you can either leave such models at home or wrap them up really carefully.
