Post by kojibear » Mon Mar 07, 2016 2:54 am

This is up on the GW site:
Competition

Do hobby dreams come true? Well for seven lucky people they will! So what do you have to do to be in with a chance of winning the army of your dreams, plus an awesome bundle of tools, brushes and paints as well as a state of the art set of scenery on which to proudly display your army ready to crush all before you?

Simple, just place an order of JPY11,500; or more, either directly through the webstore, or through the in-store order point in any Games Workshop or Warhammer retail store. Every qualifying order gives you a chance to win!

To enter the competition, you must place an order on www.games-workshop.com of at least the following amount (excluding Virtual Gift Vouchers and shipping costs): JPY11,500
Qualifying orders must be received by Games Workshop between 01:00 20th February 2016 GMT and 23:00 27th March 2016 GMT.

There are 7 prizes to be won. All entrants will be in with a chance of winning one prize. Each prize consists of the following: (1) a Hobby Bundle, (2) a choice of one of two Scenery Bundles and (3) your choice of miniatures on www.games-workshop.com totalling no more than JPY460000.
I have not seem GW do this before I think.

Er... Is there an extra zero on that prize total, cos if not, that seems hella generous...

I guess they really want to attract more people to get into the game or buy into a new army. Or is this a sudden need for a quick cash flow?

That might be 7 prizes 'worldwide', rather than just in Japan, hence the large reward.

To be honest, winning seems more like a curse than a benefit. Could you imagine how many minis you'd be painting? More than I care to think about.

At current GW prices? Maybe half a dozen, tops. :D :D
If you didn't need all those minis, eBaying some of them wouldn't be a bad choice.

interestingly, if you tell the GW site you're in the uk, the total prize money is 2000GBP, which at current rates is 321,755円. If somebody in Japan wins that contest, GW may find themselves paying out more than they bargained for. Might even encourage them to sort the bloody hell out of their barmy exchange rate issues with their yen prices...
