underwhelmed, but it's only at the teaser stage. Visually, it's not really any great improvement over DoW or similar. In fact, I reckon that Deus Ex 3 trailer was shinier. That said, Abnett can be relied upon to write a rollicking story, so I'll reserve my final judgement till Ive actually seen it.

Ultra Marines better than all other marines... Could have been when their codex first came out... but not any more... Blood Angels own them. and so do Space wolves...

It depends on which perspective the writer is writing from. Plot armour and Script guns are god-tier.

really!! For me this is a bit like a video game not eve on the level of a lot of the 3D animation that is out there... would have been better as a Japanese Anime IMHO

Couldn't disagree with you more. Making this as an anime would have ruined it comletely and made it into something it isn't supposed to be an never should be.

WH40K and it's imagrey can trace it's roots back to 2000AD the comic book and the Fighting Fantasy novels. Many of the artists that worked on those also illustrated the early rule books.

The last thing I want is my Space Marines to have giant eyes, tiny mouths, any heads to big for their bodies.

Keep the anime style were it belongs.

but the CG on this trailer sucks... I do not think Anime is best way to go but it would have been better that what they have done... I mean I am not looking for something Avatar quality but at lest as good as final fantasy ...the movie no the game. I may as well be watching someone play dawn of war 2

Bearing in mind that this is probably a straight to DVD release, I think it looks ok. If they were going to do it as a Cinema release, they would have to spend a LOT more money on it.

You say "at least as good as Final Fantasy"

Final Fantasy is pretty freakin' cutting edge. The franchise is pretty much the best selling RPG in the world, and SquareEnix are a company with a lot of money to throw around (way more than GW). Making the FF movie cost so much they almost bankrupted themselves, and this was a company with a large staff of CG experts already in place. There's no way GW could even approach the level of the FF movie (or the in-game cutscenes, for that matter.)

The Ultramarine movie does look like computer game CG. Computer game CG is bloody good these days. It was the same with the Biohazard movie - it was pretty much the same graphical level as the game's cutscenes.

And personally, I really like anime style, but heck no so far as marines go. Anime does not particularly lend itself to grimdark. Even stuff like Akira, while dark, didnt have anything like the grime level required for 40k. 40k needs as much realism as possible, and anime's style is much too simple for it.
