Blackstone Fortress - Gorgeous Minis from GW.
Ok, this might just be enough to change my mind...

Those are some amazing minis! The Lost and Damned guardsmen are awesome, and the new CSM look great too. Shame about the alien ghoul things though.

Pretty much agree with all of that. The CSM actually look proppa intimidating, and the various weird chaos/culty chaps are excellent, too. Also, I can’t help but look at that bald woman with the combo chain sword/flamer and think “ah, 40k, that’s why we love ya”

I have been very interested in this since I heard the news on the community website. Not so much because of guard (which is fine) but certainly love the rogue trader, ranger, kroot merc, robot, squat, ratling etc. All wonderful stuff. It has to be a viable game to justify my buying and playing though, at the price asked.
Don’t like the hex based tiles at all, but otherwise very appealing. I don’t know, at UK prices it wouldn’t be a hard choice but it’s subject to the usual Japan GW markup.

The price is certainly a big factor. Over 20,000yen seems to be the only price point GW aim at these days. Replayability and the option to add in more models from your own collection would also be important. The minis are nice, but there aren't enough of any of them to make a viable 40K force. (Kill Team, maybe).Lovejoy wrote:I have been very interested in this since I heard the news on the community website. Maybe the game has solid rules with some versatility behind them, maybe it'll be another reskin of 8th ed. with Command Points and expensive expansions. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Lovely minis though.

It’s branded Warhammer Quest, so it’s unlikely to be a 40K reskin or anything like it. I haven’t played either of the new WHQ games, but the general word seems to be that they, and especially the second one, are pretty fun games. They actually seem to be trying, at least again with the WHQ games so far, for solid stand-alone board games that are actually solid games - but all the same, every model (I think) in the AoS WHQ games has been provided with full rules for fielding them in AoS.

That fluff, though:
Also, latest image leaks do indeed confirm that it's a unique rules system, with bespoke dice no less, and dice besides D6's oh my! Also that there will be datasheets for all the models so you can use them in 40K.

This game isn’t getting any less appealing.

Yeah, the let's play video up on the game site is really itching at the same part of my brain that loves Advanced Space Crusade - that is to say, the part that loves cardboard chits, stacks of cards, and a wide range of small numbers of fun models to paint. It's looking like a potential Christmas purchase.Lovejoy wrote:This game isn’t getting any less appealing.
