Let's have a GW rumors and sneak peeks thread!
Since GW has gotten pretty... aggressive about providing sneak peeks and so on, starting a new thread every time something comes up seems confusing, so here's one for everything!
What prompted this: In the new WD there's an article revamping Assassins a bit - most importantly, including a good bunch stratagems to use with them (mostly stuff like letting a Vindicare shoot twice, letting an Eversor fight twice - but maybe take a mortal wound - that sort of thing), but one of them is huge:
That's 1 CP to set aside 85 points (they're all 85 points now) and take a single assassin of your choice at the beginning of the game. It's mostly good because it means you no longer have to give up a detachment to include assassins, as you did previously - and in matched play events (like, say, Nagoyahammer) where your number of detachments is limited that's giving up a lot. It also gives you the flexibility (if you have the models) to pick which assassin you want depending on who you're facing.
Overall it's a nice change, and actually makes taking assassins viable. Looks like WD is keeping it up!

I figured you would be happiest. It does look like you can only get 1 assassin in that way, and if you want more you'd have to eat up a detachment choice like before though.Miguelsan wrote:I'm going to get that WD pronto! It's going to be glorious

Me happy? Never
Improved assassins mean less IG to take to Nagoyahammer! Long live the Stormtrooper Corps!

Oh my. This looks tempting now that I own an imperial army.

Leaked rules for the units in Shadowspear:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/c ... ord_units/
The CSM get floaty skullguy who's been previewed before, a couple of Greater Possessed (which look boss) which act sort of like Marine Lieutenants (come in squads of 2, deploy and move independently, buff nearby units) but are extremely tough. Standard Chaos Marines and Obliterators aren't much different (although Obliterators' weapons got a bit of a buff) and the big spider-thingy, at 10 wounds, seems Dreadnought-ish in power level.
The Vanguard Marines get deep strike and camo cloaks; there's a librarian, a captain and a lieutenant, then the snipers are what you'd expect and the troops are basically like Reivers with assault carbines (S4 assault 2 AP0) but wound automatically on a 6 to hit. The big "noice" goes to the heavy slot they get, basically guys with jump packs and autocannons.

Pics of the box contents up on Community:
It all looks pretty cool, although not "I must get the box rather than wait for the individual releases" cool for me. (The weapons loadout on the CSMs is odd, too - heavy weapons and chainswords in the same squad are not a great choice.)
I do think it's low-grade hilarious that the lieutenant (of course there's a lieutenant) has two identical knives - just in case he drops one, I guess?

Looking at the Ultramarines, why is that dude dropping a grenade at his own feet?
I'm kind of liking the new chaos dudes, hopefully they are compatible with existing kits.

I think it's a smoke grenade? But yeah, that's an arm I can imagine leaving on the sprue.Primarch wrote:Looking at the Ultramarines, why is that dude dropping a grenade at his own feet?

Hard to say about the kits until we see the sprues, but these battle boxes usually haven't been single-pose kits (but on the other hand have never been all new models before either). Since even the primaris marines are explicitly compatible with the old marine kits, I'd be surprised if the CSMs weren't, but I wouldn't put money on it.
