I'd really second the suggestion for KR over GW - you get comparable storage space at a fraction of the price, especially if you go for the card cases. Their website is complete garbage, but they have good customer service to the point where you can e-mail them and say "I want to transport these models, what should I get?" and they'll get you set up.

The cardboard cases from KR may not be quite as sturdy as GW's, but unless you're planning to stand on them, that isn't a major issue. The prices are far more reasonable. (Note that this is true for quite literally everything GW make. While one can argue that the minis ARE very good, and some of the paints have their merits, for peripheral products such as tape measures, dice and tools, there are much cheaper alternatives).

The KR cases are great and so much cheaper! I'll have to see what a good starting point. Thank again, now I have to get off my butt to start painting.

The absolute best thing to do is put your models together and play as many games as you can. Then decide what you need for your army and what works and doesn't work for you.

The new codex will change everything for the necrons. New rules, new units , new stratagems. Be prepared for it in knowing how you like to play them.
