I’m not going to believe it for real until they confirm on a day that’s not April first. :D It’d be pretty cool though!!

I think the speculation that there'll be a Squat Kill Team that you can take in Imperial Guard (like the Corsairs in the Aeldari factions) is reasonably plausible.

That would make this a double bluff April Fools' but it seemed reasonably high effort 🤷‍♂️

I like how it takes almost none of it's design cues from the original range. Squat fans have been very vocal about that. "Bring back the Squats," they said, "but make them totally different from what they were." /s

It's not a bad looking model, it has a nice enough generic, hi-tech (for 40K) kind of vibe. Some people will love it. But advertising it as the return of the Squats seems a little bit of a stretch. The Squat bounty hunter from Necromunda is closer to what a lot of players were hoping for I'd guess.

I guess we'll just have to see how the rest of the range shakes out.

They look decent!

They're a bit generic, I guess, but I appreciate that they're not "literally just fantasy dwarves, but in space". If they get fleshed out with an entire model line it'll be interesting to see what they do with all of the warmachines and vehicles the faction is famous for. I'm also curious to see how they'll play on the tabletop and what niche they'll fit - maybe a slow moving, but tough faction with a healthy mix of shooting/melee.

Also, as a Guard player I can't help but be a tiny bit miffed since we now don't know if factions like Guard or Daemons will get an update before Squats do. You would think so, but as of now we've seen far more previewed for them than we have for Guard/Daemons. This is Games Workshop, so anything is possible.

*Cough* Sorry, I mean Leagues of Votunn. Not Squats.

Hmmm, just read through 5-6 pages of reactions on The Bolter & Chainsword forum. The new Squat aesthetic seems very popular. I guess I'm in the minority, as usual.  Consider me suitably chastised for my nostalgia inspired and clearly outdated views.

I think World Eaters and Chaos Knights are also due for new models this year too. Seems like it's going to be a crowded release schedule.

I think people are just too excited from the announcment to really think that critically about whether they actually look all that good or not. I think after the dust settles you'll find more people who agree with you. I don't disagree though - I thought the original style of Squats (and the Necromunda models) had a ton of charm to them. I would've liked to see them stick closer to the original aesthetic while also making them look less like fantasy dwarves. Maybe by getting rid of the huge beards, making them a little less stocky, but still keeping the padded armour and biker helmets.

The new Chaos Knight was actually revealed at Adepticon! It looks really good. We know it's slated for release after Nids - so probably around the start of May. As for World Eaters - I've heard rumours they'll get a downloadable rules PDF to keep them up to date after CSM get released. This might imply we won't see them for quite a while, maybe not until 2023 sometime.
