King of the hill

Post by Spevna » Fri Nov 12, 2010 2:06 pm

Seeing as how the Superheavy VS Superheavy game idea seemed quite popular, I thought of this as another fun game to play after

King of the hill

- Every player can take 1 HQ model (I'm undecided about named characters) and one troop choice (including transport).
- No points limit
- Randomised turns

Each player puts down one terrain piece each, anywhere they like.
Players dice off to see who sets up first
Once all players have set up, roll to see which terrain piece is the "hill"
The game duration is determined as per the usual rules
At the end of the last turn, the player with the most points on the terrain piece is King of the hill.

So, what do you think?

Another Brill' idea!
More fun than a tournament and less likely to have anyone whining at the end of the day about cheese. I do think that an Avatar might just have an edge over a Tau Ethereal though. :twisted:

How about a 1-on-1 Character 'Pit Fight' tournament? Straight knockout. Winner moves on to the next stage. Would a Bloodthirster really win? How about Sly Marbo? Farsight?

I like the pit fight idea too.

Why not do all three? We could make a day of it and have;

Last Man Standing - Super Heavy game
King of the hill - HQ and troop
Pit fight - The biggest and baddest slug it out

Oooh. Just thought of another one. How about a free-for-all demolition derby using tanks? No weapons, just the ram rules! :twisted:

How about stuff like The Avatar. Is that a named character or not?
Likewise, what about retinues? I'm looking at you Lord Zhufor....

These games all sound like fun.

No retinues as this would break the first condition.

As I said, I am not sure about the whole named character thing. I think it would be better to save the named characters for the pit fight.

As for the avatar, I reckon no. I will ammend the the first condition of the game in light of this;

Every player can take 1 HQ model (no named characters, MCs, or demons) and one troop choice (including transport)

You are such a girl's blouse! :D

You whine and whine (almost as much as Eldar players :D ) about folks 'manning up' and putting their money where their mouths are but when your bluff is called it looks like you are gonna chicken out :D

It may seem that the Eldar might have an advantage in the Super Heavy Challenge but a lot of things have to go right for them first, especially the random turn sequence.

In the King of the hill challenge, armour is going to make as much of a difference as speed. I'd rather have a 3+ save than a 5+ when the heavy flamers come out.

They will also have a hard time in the Demolition derby too. They might be fast but again I'd rather have Armour 14 all round ;)

As for the Pit Fight I would say there are any number of contenders there.

BTW You realize it's not going to be a serious event, don't you? :D :D :D
