The new Blood Angel dex is pretty awesome. Some rock hard unit choices and competition for what to take in every one of the slots. My only complaint is the over-use of the word blood.

Rage with no way around it makes the coolest units the worst units in the army... I hate the Psyker Dread it is the lamest thing I have ever heard of. Thats just me I hate Psykers in general they brake the game in more ways than I can count... it is one reason I really like Necromunda and Gorkamoka ... I am still going to make my BA army but I have to say I hate the HQ units the ones I really liked in that fake dex would have been cool but the reality is the dex is not what I wanted...

sorry for the rant but I was just hoping for something more fun... standing next to a drop pod all day with my crack grenades or chasing an ork buggy around the table with a 300 point unit is not my idea of fun.

Well, as a veteran Blood Angels player, I`m overall pleased with the new Codex. Hay, I can`t complain too much since I had to use a few pages out of White Dwarf as my "codex" for years! :)

Obviously, a lot of things people are complaining about will make it into the next Space Marine Codex (Storm Raven, deep striking Land Raiders, Chaplain as elite choice, etc.), so just be patient.

I don`t mind the psycher dread too much - again, I wouldn`t be surprised to see it in Codex:Space Marines in the not-so-distant future.

The over-use of the word "blood" is annoying, much like the over-use of "wolf" in the Space Wolf book. I think the most unnecessary use is Blood Strike Missiles. No. Just call them Hellstrike missiles or Hunter-Killer missiles and use the appropriate missile stats.

I have mixed feelings about the Death Company. I didn`t like that you HAD TO take them and HAD To take a Chaplain with them in every list under the old rules. However, in the new codex, they are so terrible that people will NEVER use them. It`s too dramatic of a shift.

There is a lot of cool stuff in he codex too, so I give it four out of five stars. I`ve already finished assembling my new models (and swapping out various arms and weapons and such) and it`ll take a few months to get everything painted up. But then, the Blood Angels will make a bloody mess of other armies again! Bwah-hah-hah-hah (done in a semi-Dracula accent).

You're disappointed that the uncontrollable killing machines are...uncontrollable? Meh, I wasnt planning on using Death Company anyway except in really big games. 300 points is a lot to spend on 1 squad anyway. The psyker dread is ok, but I'll probably be taking standard Furiosos with their BLOOD fists (which is exactly the same as a Powerfist), Magna Grapples and other crazy wargear. All the HQ's are great, I'm not sure what the problem is there. In the fake dex you mention, Seth gave you fleet, furious charge and gave EVERY unit Rage.
You can still take generic captains, librarians and BETTER chaplains. Mephiston is truly a monster and against an army without psychic hoods to shut him down he is awesome. Best hope you can take him down with plasma before he reaches your lines.
I like how you hold up Necromunda as an example of an unbroken game. There are so many fan-based attempts to balance it, its just not funny.

Anyway, the Blood Angels dex is what it is for the next 4-5 years at least. Maybe it could have been more overpowered, but at least its not as bad as the Tyranid "rip all your models apart and rebuild them" Codex.

Points are well taken I am giving the New BA Dex one star for all Controllable units and for the non special HQ units... I hope that My Worlds eaters will be able to lay down the hurt in big games ... one other thing that I like a bout the new Dex is its vehicles The BP is nuts cool and may be the single most power full unit point for point in the list... As a fast scout it can hit the enemy with a lot of flaming death in the first turn this should give your opponent something to deal with wile your Assault squads get into position, and with out flank it could really be used as a way to herd your opponents army in to Assault range... love it I also love the 35 point discount for Assault marines to buy a DT... does the mean they can get a Landraider for 35 points off?? and I will not even get started on the Fliying Landraider thingamajig. that has win written all over it..

4 stars in total I was hopping for a Death company that I could use...

You can use the DC, someone put up a tactica for you in the relevant section.

Yes, you can get a landraider for 35 points off for an assault squad without jump packs. It is a dedicated transport so will follow all rules for them. However, all the other vehicles (rhinos, razorbacks etc) are more expensive.

This "Welcome to 40K General" is starting to become "Comments on BA Codex", but I must say a fewmore things about it. I`m happy with the overall internal balance in the codex; most of the units are viable. Despite speculation from internet/armchair experts, I don`t think we will see one "cookiecutter list" come out but instead several good lists. To me, that`s the sign of a well-made codex. While I mourn the loss of my jump pack Death Company, it was a small price to pay for a good playable codex. And you all have been playing long enough to know that it`s always a swinging pendulum with GW; what is weak and never used in one edition becomes the must-have a$$-kickin` unit in the next (and vice versa). And I`m in for the long haul, so some day the Death Company will fly into my enemy lines again.

Now, that Space Wolf Codex on the other hand...That`s two shades of cheese past the broken level! :D  (just kidding, just kidding)

Njal "Gorgonzola" Stormcaller and Ragnar "Parmesan" Blackmane cry everytime someone fields Mephiston. I should know, I have all 3
