Some Space Marine Questions

Ok, I posted this in another inappropriate forum so I chose to make a new topic here in the rules section.

I will quote what was said:

For Assualt Squads in the space marine codex it says under dedicated transport that if you choose to remove the jump packs they may be taken as infantry (troop choice?) and get a drop pod or rhino for free(!) except for any upgrades.
This sounded very good to me as this is the kind of unit that I have been looking for, but my question is;
What if I want to take a razorback as their dedicated transport, do I have to pay the full 40 points extra or is it enough if I only pay 5 points considering that you get the orignal Rhino(35pts) for free?
There is a rules section for these kind of questions, but:
1). No, you cant use Red Scorpion rules or either of the characters for tournaments usually.
2). Razorbacks cost the full 40 points for the unit. If there was any kind of discount it would be mentioned.
I took a look at the BA codex and there it says under the Assault Squad:

The squad can remove its jump pack to count as infantry. It can then have any dedicated transport at a 35 point discount.

Since it says any I assume that as a BA there is no problem in buying a Razorback for your assault squad for 5 points then, since it is 35 points discount off the original cost of 40.

I would like this to count also for the generic space marine codex, since the BA codex is newer I can only guess that it was GW's original intention to write as they did in the newer BA codex.

What do you say?

You cant use one Codex as the basis for what is or isnt written in another codex. The Blood Angels have quite a lot of differences between their rules and the regular Codex Marines not the least of which is that Assault Marines are troops not fast attack choices. On top of that Blood Angels pay 50 points for Rhinos and 55 points for Razorbacks.

In fact, looking again at the Assault Marines in Codex Space Marines, they can NEVER take a Razorback as a transport, only Drop Pods and Rhinos.

I want to ask about space marine tactical squads.

The black reach set only contains models for 1 tactical squad, so I wondered if a tactical squad automatically includes 2 troop choices since you can break it down into 2 combat squads. So if i make a SM force, all I need is 1 hq and 1 tactical squad (2 troops choices) or do I need to choose 2 combat squads or 2 tactical squads in order to fill the 2 troop choices requirement?

A tactical squad can be 5 to 10 models. However, only a squad of 10 models can break down into combat squads, this is done during deployment not army selection, so you will need 2 troops choices before thinking about combat squads.
For example.
1 HQ and 2x 10 man Tactical squads is a valid army.
1 HQ and 2x 5 man Tactical squads (no special weapons though) is a valid army.
1 HQ and 1x 10 man Tactical squad split into 2 combat squads is not a valid army because you dont have 2 troops choices when you write your list.
The Black Reach set is designed to be a starter level force. Usually at lower points levels, players dont mind reducing the minimum requirements.
