How GK psy-shock weapons work?

Post by asch » Wed Apr 06, 2011 1:41 am

I have a question about GK "psy-shock" weapons.
They cause perils of warp damage on "models hit." Problem is that we roll for damages to a unit, not models. How do those weapons work against a unit some of whose members are psyckers?
My hypothesis goes like this. When the player of the unit hit chooses the models to roll for saves, chosen models are nominated as being hit. If they're psyker, they also take perils damages.

Hi Asch,
Your idea sounds about right.

Step 1 - Roll to hit
Step 2 - Roll to wound
Step 3 - Allocate wounds
Step 4 - Take armour/cover/invulnerable saves
Step 5 - If any psykers were allocated wounds in Step 3, they suffer Perils of the Warp damage.

This means that if there is 1 psyker in a squad (A librarian in a unit of 10 tactical marines) it might be quite difficult to hit him. Against units with lots of psykers (IG psyker squad or Eldar seer council) you can cause a lot of damage.

This is actually in the GK FAQ. Basically the perils and wounds are handled separately. The perils happens to any psyker hit and then wounds occur separately. You can easily use this to "snipe" a librarian out of a unit. What I'm wondering is whether GK units with the Brotherhood of Psykers rule take 1 perils per model or one for the unit.

I think the unit is treated like a single psyker in every case, but I see where your question is relevant.... :? Not sure what the rules intent is.

Yeah Im inclined to agree. Just as the Culexus Assassin only gets +1 shot for the unit. I think we get the sweet side of it along with the bitter. Not to mention those missiles would otherwise be utterly devastating in GK mirror matches.
