Mailifaux Showgirls Vs Mech spiders

Post by ashmie » Mon Nov 23, 2015 7:55 am

Yesterday I had my first game of Malifaux. MiJ was kind enough to show me the ropes and I have to say I really enjoyed the setting and system. It's an ingenious system with just enough strategy and special rules to be interesting. I love the way all the info we need is on the cards and I love the way it plays as two games, a miniatures game and a card game. There are elements of the tarot involved with the cards and the spells. I thought it was excellent. This is easily the most enjoyable system I've played for a long while, since Black Powder most probably. I'm very late to the game but i'm very excited about it. This one is up there with Blood Bowl and Space Hulk I reckon. Anyway here are some pics.

It's a great game, innit?
Playing with nicely painted miniatures and terrain helps too.

@MiJ: nice gallows and inn(?) Where are they from?

The Inn I had airlifted in from the set of Bree :) It was a one off e bay purchase a seller handmade.
The gallows I think MiJ got from an online company forge craft or something?

Malifaux is yet another game in my cupboard of shame, the puppets are just waiting to have paint slapped on 'em. It does look like an intriguing and unique system, and the Gaimanesque (at least to me) vibe of the background - Teddy bears and creepy pinnochios - sold me on it.
Nice board, too. The 4ground stuff works really well.

'Twas a good game, despite my showgirls getting their bums handed to them (again).

Scenery-wise, the gallows is 4ground, the other buildings are Ash's, and the rocks and crystals are ye olde-school blue foam wi textured paint.
