Malifaux Terrain Building - Ideas Wanted.

In case anybody missed the memo, I'm on a bit of a Malifaux kick right now. I'm planning on building a Wild West pioneer town style set of terrain and I'm looking for ideas. I know that there are a load of options available in MDF (making wooden buildings out of wood is quite easy you say?), but I'm going to try to DIY some stuff together using materials from the 100 yen store where possible.
I'm aiming to cover an area of about 3-4 square feet with terrain. A fair size for a town, but not so large that it is big enough for the both of us.
So, put on your cowboy hats, recall those old Eastwood movies and tell me what you think there should be in an old west frontier town.
So far I'm considering:
A saloon. (Probably the biggest/most challenging thing to build).
A sheriff's office.
A general store.
A hitching post/water trough.
Some shanties/houses.
