Played my first game of 8th edition

There are quite a few units that will beat swordmasters, blocks of bloodletters just aint the ones to do it. If Badruck had gone for ranks (steadfast) rather than files (horde) he would have been in a better position though. Stuff with great armour saves (such as heavy cavalry) and high toughness can get the job done since they can roll with the punches and hit back hard. 10 strong blocks of Chaos Chosen or Blood Knights should cream them. Black Guard with ASF banner are good, but not going to cut the mustard since two units with ASF strike SIMULTANEOUSLY (god I love what 8th has done to my army), and my WS6, S5 attacks and "no hatred for you" banner trump the black guard's WS5 S4.

To answer the question about magic.
Badruck was playing mono-khorne, so no magic. I had one level 2 mage who managed to blast quite a few daemons with magic missiles before his unit got munched. (sadly spear elves are not sword masters). Mind, Badruck had Badruck (see what I did there) with his dispel rolls.

I haven't played a game yet but I already know that Mike is going to smash my army up something fierce. I'll probably be tabled by the end of turn 3 if I'm lucky to survive that long.

I wouldn't count on that Voss. I'm a pretty terrible player so far. Just ask TOD about the 'At the double with no recce' incident.

Heh, I think I hurt myself during army selection bad enough, I'll be on the back heel to begin with. I think I might have money crunched too hard.

Some thoughts on Khorne:

1) flesh hounds are good. High movement means that you can get them where you need them. a small pack can find and pick off a lone mage that has strayed too far from the main army. a larger unit can bring some hurt to mass units and with two wounds a charge in the side will keep the unit sound for a very long time. Magic resistance 3 is super sweet

2) bloodcrushers are an elite unit nightmare. 2 killing blow at strength 5 plus 2 strenght 6 attacks and the crush attack all in one. ouch!

3) furies are your friends for screening your units.

4) have a herald of khorne in your main bloodletter unit will give the hatred which can be really helpful.

5) if you are determined to take a bloodthrister, I would say give him obsidian armor, spellbreaker, and immortal fury. This will increase his staying power and give you one chance to stop a spell cold in its track.

I have zero respect for anyone that takes a full chaos multi power army in 40K or FB... I will not play Tzeench can't do it... I know it could be better if I could but I just can't do it... if some one wants to throw Nurgle and Purple perves together good on them but if someone is playing any combo of a 3 or the 4 well they just do not get it... props to Dungeon lord - Spevena -MIJ for keeping a clean 40K army free of any anti fluffy stuff... I have thought it over and if I can't win with an all Khorne Army then I better get my butt back to 40k...

So you are against anyone playing the fluff for the Great War against Chaos when all of the dark gods united to invade the Old World or against Archaeon's legions which are united as he has earned the favor of all four gods.

And you are against a black crusade army where Abaddon united all or most of the traitor legions to unleash upon their woe upon the Imperium of Mankind. And you are against the entire fluff of the Word Bearers who view it as a dark pantheon and worship all four. Well I guess it is a good thing I'm backing out of doing warhammer 30k, otherwise you'd have to stop respecting me because my army would have had demons from all four at their disposal.

My final version of my WoC army will have all four gods units and unmarked units as well. However, Tzeentch will have maybe 2 plus one character while khorne will get one unit and one character.

I am against any one who fields an army of more than 3 powers as for the fluff events you are talking about those are not little pitched battles of 2000 points you are talking about Apoc. or legendary battles. just like we played a few years back D lord MTP and me all represented every power but Tzeench models never even came close to the Nurgle models and Kohrne and that other power I do not ever talk about were under separate command and to make the fluff of that we had Abbadon there...

As for your thoughts on FB Daemons list of Khorne....I know!!! After all there are not that many units in an all Khorne army...

the Blood Thirster you mentioned is a a bit over 500 points so it will not work any way nice try though...

Blood Crushers Blow 70 points for a model with 2 wounds lots of attacks is nice and I can see how they will stomp small units... but they are only T 4 so I think they suck now... I am going to make mine into Chariots for a Herald or 2 maybe 3... see how they play and I hope they are better than normal ones or I have waisted a lot of cash on some very cool but very useless in FB but the well own stuff in 40K

If you actually read the new book the four powers making common cause doesn't seem so out there. Anyhows, bitter rivals teaming up is nothing new in Fantasy (e.g. Witch Elves and Sorcerers, The rival Skaven clans, Dwarves and High Elves etc.).

I only play mono-slaanesh most of the time because I am a purple pervert at heart and of all the powers, I love the models and IMHO I think they have the easiest time on their own (sometimes with a little help from Tzeentch).

Mono Tzeentch used to be able to overpower the magic phase due to units generating their own power dice. The reduction of magic dice from 1 per level to 2d6 per army hurt them a bit.
Mono-khorne is nasty up close, but I took out maybe 20 of the 60 bloodletters with shooting and magic along with 4 of the 6 bloodcrushers before they reached me. Flesh hounds will be useful for tying up warmachines and units of archers I guess.

Fhounds are not only Faster but they are cheaper and they are nearly as tough as the Blood Crushers... they have a good stat line and a very cool Special character just wish they pulled a chariot... that would be boss...
