Well, the Turko-Mongoloid empire was famous for it's cavalry, so its nice that the OK army finally gets some cavalry.job wrote:What I meant by the "horde" thing is that they were originally themed after Turko-Mongoloid nomadic culture, both geographically in the fantasy world and with their imagery. The main storyline, too, is similar with all the looting and destroying civilization thing.

I am just surprised by the amount of new things that GW is pumping out.

It's the same as usual. Every month they release something new.Seb wrote:I am just surprised by the amount of new things that GW is pumping out.

Re: Upcoming Ogre Kingdoms Models.
I think we are getting a lot as of late... and because we are interested in FB we are very keen how ever I think Seb is right.. we are getting a bit more than normal
April White dwarf had the Grey Knights and some battle reports about them...
in August there was a bit more
rules and point value for 3 units in the VC
SOB rules for the WD Codex
Announcement about the Daemon Battle Force
Prime likes to be right so I am sure he will prove that GW has put out lots of models and rules in other WDs over the past 6 months...

@ Badruck - I agree, in terms of content, this is the first time White Dwarf has had anything worthwhile in it for years. WD has been one glorified, glossy advert for a long time now. However, most people on this forum dont bother with White Dwarf for precisely that reason. You wouldn't even have seen it if a certain power-hungry vampire player hadn't ordered it to try and get an advantage in WFB.Admiral-Badruck wrote:April White dwarf had the Grey Knights and some battle reports about them... in August there was a bit more, rules and point value for 3 units in the VC, SOB rules for the WD Codex,

In terms of model releases, there hasn't been any big shake up really. (3 kits for Ogre Kingdoms is NOT a lot). People generally tend to ignore releases that dont do much for their army/game system, but GW constantly releases new stuff for all three of their core games.
I just picked up the Feb 2010 WD at random. The releases were:
WFB
New Beastman Army Book
Repacked Beastman Gor Herd
Repacked Beastman Ungor Herd
Beastman Bestigor Herd
Beastman Minotaurs
Beastman Razorgor
Beastman Malagor
Beastman Doombull
Beastman Ghorros
40K
Legion of the Damned Sergeant
Legion of the Damned with Flamer
Legion of the Damned Legionnaires 3
Legion of the Damned Legionnaires 4
LotR
Saruman
Thrydan Wolfsbane
Grimbold
Grimbold's Helmingas Command
Eomer
Winged Nazgul
So that's 3 new plastic kits and 2 older ones in new boxes, a new book and 17 metal minis.
As I said, business as usual.

Re: Upcoming Ogre Kingdoms Models.
model wise I see what you mean but the content in the Aug. WD is much better than in the past...

I'm assuming you mean WD, not GW? White Dwarf has been pretty much worthless for the past few years. August's release is better than it has been for a while, though they do have the occasional rules update in them, (The issue I mentioned above has some Tyranid Apocalypse Units inside), they are generally not worth reading. That said, they do have some odd gems. Spearhead being one of them. Other issues have new rules for Cities of Death, Campaign games for LotR, new missions to play and if its something that interests you, every issue has info on painting and converting.Admiral-Badruck wrote:model wise I see what you mean but the content in the Aug. On the other hand, I would rather have a real Sisters Codex along with new Sisters releases instead of just half a dozen pages split across two magazines. It was lame when they did it for Blood Angels and it is lame now. Vampires didn't NEED an update, not when their army book is one of the newer ones and is still very competitive. It would be nice if these kinds of updates were to keep happening, but I think it was just a case of them having a slow month and needing something to fill it rather than any new drive to update and improve older armies.

I have never been a fan of the OK army, but those are really nice.
