still not sold on the cat cav. Too big a rider for too small a beastie. Sure, people can ride miniature ponies, but then people on miniature ponies look daft.

well slather me in taco sauce and call me enrique. Those are some damn nice minis. Fantasy ones, to boot! The firebelly in particular could stand alone as a painting project. Lovely stuff

I dont think it helps that the Ogre's feet dont reach the cats back. The pose is all wrong.me_in_japan wrote:well slather me in taco sauce and call me enrique. Those are some damn nice minis. Fantasy ones, to boot! The firebelly in particular could stand alone as a painting project. Lovely stuff

Re: Upcoming Ogre Kingdoms Models.
I think he`s referring to GW`s recent trend of putting out gigantic models (i.e. not "minis") - especially for FB. When you look at the Stonehorn (or Arachnorok), it`s hard to call them "miniatures" cause they are so damn big.
As Japan`s first (and only?) Ogre player, I`m excited...and tortured...I guess you could say conflicted. I have about 5000 points of fully painted Ogres (inlcuding TWO scraplaunchers...the most insidious miniature ever produced) - pretty much everything - which allows me to swap out stuff as I desire. I`ve also been wargaming long enough to know its pointless to whine when a new edition comes out forcing me to: 1. buy new minis 2. modify some of the models I`ve already painted and 3. more or less shelve some models that are no longer feasable to use. So, I`ve already alotted money for the upcoming releases...I`m totally excited about new OK rules, bringing up our competitive level from perpetual doormat status, and getting some new models.
However, judging by the info/photos so far, everything I`ll be getting is frigging huge (maxiatures, not miniatures): Stone Horn (100x100mm base) , Frost tusk thing (100x100mm base), iron-cannon-towed-by-rhinox (chariot base), 4-6 Mournfangs (each one looks to be chariot base size!)...not to mention the standard 2-3 new characters and unit of sabretusks. I`m afraid to see the price tags for each of these giant kits! I`ll have to get a new bag just to fit all of this new stuff in! I don`t even play FB much these days. But, I sold my Chaos Troll army (because it was too similar to Ogres and only half as cool) and I`ve pretty much shelved my Chaos Daemon Army because of the unprecedented levels of cheese in 7th edition...so Ogres are my main army for FB...my favorite army.
Hmmm....
